Luke-No looking back

No looking back

Luke 9:61  And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.

Perhaps the family of mother, father, brothers and sisters are not saved. Will they persuade you to stay away from following Jesus? Is your heart more with them? Maybe you had not so good parents, will you let them control you? Will you let your bad past keep you from following Jesus? Is it more important for you to seek their approval, then to follow Jesus through a new heart and Spirit?

Remember Lot and his wife who were told to flee their homes and not look back? His wife looked back, having love for the things of the city.

Gen 19:24  Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
Gen 19:25  And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
Gen 19:26  But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Luke 9:62  And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Who will you obey? Who are you seeking to please? Are we going to stay the course or bail out when things do not go our way? Are you king of your life? Make up your mind, for there is no looking back, no turning back if you are going to follow Jesus.
