Revelation - The 144,000

The one hundred forty-four thousand

Rev 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

Four angels, at the four corners, north, south, east and west, holding the four winds. They controlled the winds at the direction of almighty God. Is this proof that God controls the winds and the weather? Global warming, hurricanes, earthquakes, rain and snow? Yes, he does. The angels were also holding back God's judgment, until something was done.

Rev 7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
Rev 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

Sealed, by the Holy Spirit. A seal was the mark of ownership, representing the owners name, Father God. Sealed by an angel sent from heaven to a select group of people, on their foreheads; where the helmet of salvation is worn. Looking ahead we see the seal again mentioned.

Rev 9:4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

These were protected by God, not to receive the wrath of God, so that they could do their great exploits; the work of God given to them.

Rev 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

One religious group has claimed to be these ones who were sealed. They speak of Jehovah as God and no other. They do not see Jesus as God the Son, but these are not the sealed of God. These are following false teachers and false prophets. The sealing of God on the foreheads is the receiving of salvation through Jesus Christ and the anointing of the Holy Spirit. This was for a select number of Israel in the end times.

Rev 7:4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundredand forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

One hundred forty-four thousand chosen of Israel from twelve tribes. These were not Gentiles, but the chosen of Israel who would be sent out to evangelize the world in the time of tribulation before the coming of our Lord.

Endure and Bless

Endure and Bless

God's power in you

Isa 40:29  He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
Isa 40:30  Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
Isa 40:31  But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Draw near to God

James 4:7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:8  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
James 4:9  Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
James 4:10  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Put on the Whole armor of God

Eph 6:11  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Antichrist and God's people

Dan 11:32  And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
Dan 11:33  And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.
Dan 11:34  Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.
Dan 11:35  And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

Endure

Mat 24:9  Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Mat 24:10  And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
Mat 24:11  And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:12  And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Mat 24:13  But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mat 24:14  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

It is not over

Rom 8:35  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Rom 8:36  As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Rom 8:37  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Rom 8:38  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Preach

2 Tim 4:2  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2 Tim 4:3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2 Tim 4:4  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
2 Tim 4:5  But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
2 Tim 4:6  For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
2 Tim 4:7  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
2 Tim 4:8  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Sowing and reaping

Mark 11:25  And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
Mark 11:26  But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Endure rebuke

1 Pet 2:19  For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
1 Pet 2:20  For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
attitude of the thief on the cross

Luke 23:39  And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
Luke 23:40  But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
Luke 23:41  And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
Luke 23:42  And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
Luke 23:43  And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Be positive not negative

Heb 12:14  Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Heb 12:15  Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Gal 6:7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Gal 6:8  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Gal 6:9  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Gal 6:10  As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

God's people are to bless

Mat 5:44  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Mat 6:14  For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Mat 6:15  But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Rewards for good works

 Mat 10:40  He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
Mat 10:41  He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
Mat 10:42  And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

Mat 12:35  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Mat 12:36  But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Mat 12:37  For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

 Blessed when we do these things

Mat 5:3  Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:4  Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Mat 5:5  Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Mat 5:6  Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Mat 5:7  Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Mat 5:8  Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Mat 5:9  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Mat 5:10  Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:11  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Mat 5:12  Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Mat 5:13  Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Mat 5:14  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Mat 5:15  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Mat 5:16  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Mat 5:17  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mat 5:18  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:19  Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Revelation 6 - The sixth seal opened

The sixth seal opened

Rev 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
Rev 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

The sun moon and stars are sometimes worshipped as idols.

Deu 4:19 And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.

We worship the true God and Jesus, His Son.

Psa 8:3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
Psa 8:4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Psa 8:5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Psa 8:6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Rev 6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

What a terrifying sight, especially for the natural man who has not trusted in Jesus.

2 Pet 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
2 Pet 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
Rev 6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of himthat sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

It was near to the time of God's wrath poured out upon the earth.

Zep 1:14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
Zep 1:15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
Zep 1:16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.
Zep 1:17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
Zep 1:18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

Rev 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Only the elect of God will withstand, for God's wrath shall not abide on them.

1 Th 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Revelation 6 - The fifth seal opened

The fifth seal opened

Rev 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

The fifth seal is opened by Jesus, for only Jesus was able to open the seals. This time it is a heavenly view, under the altar of God, of those saints killed for their testimony, the testimony of Jesus Christ, the gospel message. They were martyrs for their faith in our Lord. God would reward them and avenge them.

Rev 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

What of those who kill, thinking they are serving god? They were serving the wrong god, not the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel. Their god makes promises, but he is a liar. Apart from Jesus is judgment for works and hell.

Rev 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Those in heaven were given white robes, the righteousness of Jesus Christ, as fellow heirs in glory. There were more to come, the faithful witnesses in the time of tribulation. Will we be as faithful if we face tribulation and persecution? Be ready, we are not promised freedom from persecution, but we are promised that God's wrath will not come upon us. Who knows, but that many may be saved by our faithful witness.

Revelation 6 - The fourth seal

The fourth seal opened

Rev 6:7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.

Each of the angelic beings have spoken, when Jesus opened a seal. Let me speak what I see in this section. Satan is a liar and takes things that are good and makes them bad, by using them. The first seal of the coming antichrist king, was spoken of by the creature with the lions head, the king of the beasts. The second seal, was the servant of the antichrist who was sent forth to take away peace and to cause war. This seal spoken of by the angel with a calves head, represented an ox, or a servant. The third seal bringing famine, was introduced by the angel with the face of a man. Six is the number of man and it would represent the number 666, that had to be taken, in order to buy or to sell. Now the forth seal is opened and announced by the angel with the head of an eagle, a majestic heavenly bird, but here it is a bird of prey.

Mat 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Death and hell would follow;

Rev 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

A pale horse representing death and for those not in Jesus, hell following. Now that is not a popular subject, but hell is a real place of torment for sinners.

Luke 12:5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

One-fourth of the earths people will be killed in this time of tribulation before God pours out his wrath. How would they die? Killed by the sword, by hunger and starvation, by death:

Luke 21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Also killed by the beasts of the earth. They were a cursed people.

Deu 28:26 And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.

This tribulation is from satan and his anti-christ. Remember God knows these things will happen and he has placed limits upon them.

Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened

Revelation 1 Table of Contents

Trinity, an evil name?

I received this, probably a Jehovahs witness, for she does not see Jesus as God...A long letter pointing out pagan trinitys and the evils of the Catholic church...

 ungodly people who claim God is Jesus, and use the Trinity to describe,

I could not read it all. We know what Trinity is from reading the Bible. Father, Son, Holy Ghost, three personalities of the one God.  She comes up with all of satan's counterfeits to prove the real thing false?  Not going there. The Bible does not call itself ...the Bible, but that is the word we use to refer to it as a real book of God's word. Trinity, Triune, Godhead, we know these names as referring to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. God is Spirit. Jesus is God the Spirit who came in flesh, and taking on a body that we will know and see. The Holy Spirit is God revealing the word, His power and truth with us. What part of this is not so? God has chosen to reveal himself this way, for our redemption.

Revelation6 - The third seal opened

The third seal opened

Rev 6:5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
Rev 6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

A black horse, perhaps representing a burned earth, resulting from war and famine. What if a nuclear war came about? There would be many killed and much land destroyed that would have been producing food. Food would be scarce; with war comes famine.

Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

The balances, or scales, in his hand represent the increased cost of food. Every portion carefully measured, and the price was a penny, a Roman denarius, which was much more than our penny. It would cost a days wages to make a meal of bread.

Gen 18:6 And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.

This was a minimum amount of bread, to feed the three visitors. Solomon was a Rich man and he had ten times this each day.

1 Ki 4:22 And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

Do not harm the oil and wine? This I see two ways. In the natural, these were the finer things, that the rich enjoyed, but on a spiritual level, I see the oil representing the Olive Tree which is Israel.

Rom 11:16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
Rom 11:17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
Rom 11:18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

The wine represents those of the vine, those who are covered by the blood of theLamb. Do not harm the chosen of God, the redeemed of Israel. This being a command from heaven; but satan does not obey God. These things must happen before the coming of the Lord.

Revelation 6 - The second seal opened

The second seal opened

Rev 6:3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.
Rev 6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

A man on a red horse. Red reminds us of blood and death. This was a man or a spirit loosed by God, God allowed satan to loose it. The Holy Spirit brings peace, so by this time the church may have been removed. The Holy Spirit and the church restrains death and destruction.

2 Th 2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.

The man with the red horse removes peace, the result is that people will kill each other. There was given unto him a great sword, to bring war and strife. That spirit is already released in Islam, but it will be even worse when the antichrist comes. He comes to bring peace, he has all the world under submission, then he makes war with God's people Israel.

The work of the devil, the thief.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Revelation - The first seal opened

The first seal opened

Rev 6:1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.

Only Jesus could open the seals of the scroll. The contents of the scroll was the future plan of God. As the seals are opened events happen, things that will come about before the revelation of the opened scroll.

One of the four living creatures spoke, as a voice of thunder, saying come and see. Each seal is followed by an event that God knows of before it happens. He knows all things.

Rev 6:2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

A white horse and a rider, we usually think of as a good guy, as in the Lone Ranger, or Jesus. But, Jesus does not come on a white horse until Revelation 19. Who is the man who appears as good? He has a bow, instrument of warfare. He is given a crown, he is given rule over people and he went forth conquering and his purpose was to rule over everyone.

This is the antichrist, the false messiah, the man sent by satan to fool the nations. He would be called the man of peace, but he was an evil dictator, seeking souls and death. He had a bow, not a sword. He was after the type of Nimrod, the mighty hunter who ruled over Babel (Babylon).

Gen 10:9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.
Gen 10:10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

This ruler was a mighty hunter of men. Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. He spoke the truth with God's promises. The antichrist comes to seek and to kill and to destroy, he was a liar with false promises.

The bow is also a symbol of a promise, as the rainbow. But, the promises of this false prince were lies.

The first seal brings the dictator as prophesied in Daniel 9 and the seventieth week.

Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The prince shall make a covenant of peace with many, including Israel. This is the beginning of the final week of years. Israel will again be a nation and the temple will be rebuilt. There was a time called the time of the Gentiles. This period of time changed the redemption focus from the Jews, who rejected their Messiah, onto the non Jewish nations, the Gentiles. At some time, the Church will be caught up with the Lord. The church will be raptured. The prince from the Roman empire shall bring peace and make a covenant with Israel. After three and a half years he will set himself upon the throne of God as Messiah and demand to be worshipped. He shall cause the sacrifices to stop and will defile the temple in Jerusalem.

This is the first of four horsemen, sometimes referred to as the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

Revelation - Many angels worship

Many angels worship

Rev 5:11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

More angels than can be counted: One hundred million angels and thousands of thousands. This was not in a small room, Can God be contained?

Rev 5:12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, there is no doubt that the Lamb is every bit God, the Son of God.

Rev 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

All creation worship God the Father and God the Son.

Phil 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Phil 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Phil 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Phil 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Rev 5:14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

"Depend upon it, my hearer, you never will go to heaven unless you are prepared to worship Jesus Christ as God. They are all doing it there: you will have to come to it, and if you entertain the notion that he is a mere man, or that he is anything less than God, I am afraid you will have to begin at the beginning and learn what true religion means. You have a poor foundation to rest upon. I could not trust my soul with a mere man, or believe in an atonement made by a mere man: I must see God himself putting his hand to so gigantic a work." (Spurgeon)

The four angelic creatures said "Amen."

Revelation - Wothy is the Lamb

Worthy is the Lamb

Rev 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.

The right hand is a symbol of power and authority. In the hand was a scroll containing much information, written on both sides. A scroll had up and down columns of writing, read from left to right as it was unrolled. There were no books in John's time as we see a book. They used scrolls of brownish paper which were rolled up.

The old and new testaments were God's will and redemption plan for the people of this world. Perhaps this scroll in heaven contained the will of God for the future, things that only God would know. It was a legal document because it was sealed with seven seals. In the Roman times, a document was witnessed by seven people, each giving a seal. The Holy Spirit is referred to as seven spirits. The Spirit of God perhaps sealed the scroll whose contents only the Father knew.

Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Mat 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Rev 5:2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
Rev 5:3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.
Rev 5:4 And I wept much, because no man was found
worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.

John wept, because no man was worthy to open the scrolls. He was in heaven in the spirit, to see things to come, now the revelation seemed to be blocked; the understanding was locked in the sealed scroll. We all have felt as John, where we were promised something and then the door seemed to be shut. Like John, we wept, but God will reveal his plan in time.

Rev 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

One of the wise elders had faith in the one who was able to open the scroll, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed, Greek word: nikao, tocarry off the victory, come off victorious, our intercessor and advocate. Jesus is able to open the scrolls, and to loose the seven seals. Where is Jesus?

Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

In the midst of the throne, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, full of power and truth; full of the Holy Spirit.

John 3:34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
John 3:35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.

Jesus the Lamb of God. The Passover Lamb. John the Baptist introduced Jesus as the Lamb of God:

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Jesus shares with the Father, His glory and receives worship with Him. Stephen saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God in a vision as he was being stoned for witnessing for him.

Acts 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
Acts 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

Rev 5:7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
Rev 5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

The focus turns to Jesus, all present continue to worship the Son as they did the Father. They are worshipped together. This is important. Some cults only worship God, the Father. Jesus is worthy to receive honor with the Father. He is worthy to open the seals, he was slain and lives, his blood redeemed people from all nations: Through him we shall reign as kings and priests in the Millennium.

Mat 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Do not follow anyone who does not worship Jesus and the Father as God. The Lamb will open the scroll, the revelation of things to come. No mere man or angel can open it. Jesus is God who came in a man. The Living Word made flesh. The redeemer and revealer of God's plan.

Revelation - Worship Him

Around the throne

Rev 4:4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

Around the throne of God, John saw twenty-four seats or thrones. Twenty-four elders, believed to be twelve for the patriarchs of the old testament and twelve for the apostles.

Elders represented the people of God, especially in the Old Testament. The 24 courses of the priesthood represented all the priests (1 Chronicles 24), and the 12 tribes and the 12 apostles represent all the faithful. (Guzik)

Mat 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

In Rev 5:8-10, the elders fell down before the Lamb, and worshipped him with harps and song, having with them the prayers of the saints. They were made kings and priests to rule in the Millennium. They represented the glorified, redeemed saints of God who worship continuously before the throne.

They were clothed in white, washed clean by the blood of Jesus and in his righteousness. They were given crowns. They reigned with Christ.

2 Tim 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

Rev 4:5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

Lightnings, thundering and voices represent the awesome presence of God. As when Moses met God on Mt. Sinai.

Exo 20:18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

Seven lamps representing the seven spirits of God. Seven being the fulness of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has been described as a dove, gentle spirit, and as cloven flames of fire in Acts 2.

Rev 1:4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Acts 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
Acts 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

Isa 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

The Holy Spirit is with the redeemed of God, He also surrounds the throne of God. He brings us the wisdom, presence, power and counsel of God.

Rev 4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

Before the throne, a sea, representing water, of glass in appearance. A crystal clear sea. Perhaps this represents the washing of the word of God. No sin or filth may enter His presence.

John 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

In the midst of the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

Spiritual creatures, angels with four eyes in front and four behind. These are the cherubim, the angels that surround the throne of God. (Ezekial 1:4-14)

Worship Him

Rev 4:7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

The four creatures, were angels or cherubs. The faces may represent the best of God's creations. The lion is king of the beasts, and also could represent Jesus in the gospel of Matthew; The lion of Judah. The calf, may refer to a strong servant animal or Jesus as the servant as in Mark's gospel. A man is God's highest creation on earth and Jesus was called the son of man in Luke's gospel. The eagle is the greatest of birds and represents the heavenlies, Jesus the Son of God from heaven, as in the gospel of John. The angels gave God glory for all he is and has done.

Rev 4:8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Each creature has many eyes, being able to see the glory of God and to speak of Him in all His glory. They each had six wings, to fly with. Apparently they fly around the throne day and night giving God glory, saying holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. Perhaps they mention something different of His glory each time, for His glory has no end. They are the most excellent of the angels. Satan was a glorious angel, until he decided he wanted glory, this caused his fall, taking what belonged only to God. Worship is to God and the Son. The angels give God glory, so shall we.

Rev 4:9 And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,
Rev 4:10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

They twenty-four elders representing the redeemed of the creation, who cast their crowns before the king and worship him as well. Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for you have created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Jesus shares in this glory.

Rev 5:12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

We shall be like Jesus, as spiritual creations, but never shall we receive worship. We shall worship God and the Son, along with Gods angels. We are heirs with Christ yet we shall be like the angels yet as children of God we are one with Christ.

Mat 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Rom 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Heb 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Heb 2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

We are redeemed children of God to bring glory, honor and praise to the Father.

Re: the jasper stone

A jasper, probably like a diamond, was sparkling clear white, representing purity and holiness.
A reader comments: Jasper is mostly greenish or brownish, yellowish with very little white if any.

Main Entry: jas·per
Function: noun
Pronunciation: 'jas-p&r
Etymology: Middle English jaspre, from Middle French, from Latin jaspis, from Greek iaspis, of Semitic origin; akin to Hebrew yAshepheh jasper
1 : an opaque cryptocrystalline quartz of any of several colors ; especially : green chalce dony
2 : colored stoneware with raised white decoration
3 : a blackish green
- jas·pery/-p&-re/ adjective
~~~
Philips translation speaks of the diamond, see Rev 21:11
Rev 21:10  And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
Rev 21:11  Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
 jasper--From Re 21:11, where it is called most precious, which the jasper was not, EBRARD infers it was a diamond. Ordinarily, the jasper is a stone of various wavy colors, somewhat transparent: in Re 21:11 it represents watery crystalline brightness. (Jamieson, Fausset, Brown)
~~~~

Whatever, it represents the purity of God, and in the many facets of color of His glory..

Revelation - Father of lights

Father of lights

Rev 4:3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

There is a throne in heaven and one who sits upon the throne with absolute power. Atheists and humanists wish to believe that there is no throne, no absolute authority. The one on the throne John describes from his own heart. How can you describe spiritual things in a natural way? To look upon him was to look on beautiful colors of light, as to look at beautiful precious stones. A jasper, probably like a diamond, was sparkling clear white, representing purity and holiness. White contains all the colors, from him is all things of truth and beauty.

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

A sardine stone is red, representing judgment and the blood of Christ. He is absolute judge and all things are purged by faith in the blood of Christ.

Around the throne was a rainbow; John describes it as an emerald, which is green. I see green as representing life, as in the garden of Eden.

Gen 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
Gen 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

The rainbow represents God's covenant and mercy. It also is a reminder that God keeps his covenants and promises. We have His many promises to us in the Bible. These we should know and do. They are our treasure from heaven.

Purity, judgment, mercy, abundant life and God's promises are represented at the throne. The greatest promise I see is:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

No flesh can see God, but John saw in the spirit. We shall see him in our spirit bodies, because of his promises. He is faithful and good; Loving and just. God should be honored and worshipped with all our heart.

Revelation 1 Table of Contents

Is what you do for God a gift?

Is what you do for God a gift?????
What you have inside to spread to others
Is that a gift??????????/
1 Cor 1:4  I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
1 Cor 1:5  That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
1 Cor 1:6  Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
1 Cor 1:7  So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1 Cor 1:8  Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Cor 1:9  God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Cor 1:10  Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

2 Cor 8:9  For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
2 Cor 8:10  And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.
2 Cor 8:11  Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.
2 Cor 8:12  For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
2 Cor 8:13  For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:
2 Cor 8:14  But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:
2 Cor 8:15  As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.

Deu 11:13  And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
Deu 11:14  That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.
Deu 11:15  And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.
Deu 11:16  Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;

Deu 13:1  If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
Deu 13:2  And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
Deu 13:3  Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

1 Sam 12:24  Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart; for consider how great things he hath done for you.

Jer 29:11  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Jer 29:12  Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
Jer 29:13  And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Joel 2:12  Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
Joel 2:13  And rend your heart, and not yourgarments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

One final word from me. God increases as we give. All is from a heart of love and service. I like to be asked things, this way I know you are interested in what is said. How much more is God pleased when you ask of him? If we ask wisely and from the heart, God gives you more of himself for serving others.

Luke 11:11  If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
Luke 11:12  Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
Luke 11:13  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Revelation - Called up to heaven

Called up into heaven

Rev 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter.

Rev 1:19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

Chapter four begins the things which shall be hereafter; prophecy of future events. It is a heavenly view of what happens on earth.

A door was opened in heaven. Jesus in chapter three as knocking on the door of our heart. In chapter three, the beloved church of Philadelphia, was given an open door for ministry. Now, John is invited into heaven, in the spirit, to see and hear great and mighty things. God spoke unto Jeremiah; call upon me.

Jer 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

In chapter four Jesus is calling on John, the sound of a trumpet, distinct, loud and clear, the voice of Jesus, as in Rev 1:10. Come up here, and I will show you things to come.

Rev 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit; and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

Heaven is a spiritual place, no flesh may enter. John was in the spirit entering heaven. He describes what he sees in words and in symbolic words. He saw a throne, and one setting on the throne.

Some see this calling up to heaven with the sound of a trumpet as symbolic of the church being called up in the rapture.

1 Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1 Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The church is not mentioned in Revelation, after chapter three. The church will not be in the wrath of God, which will be poured out on the earth.

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Col 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
Col 3:6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
Col 3:7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

The churches were shown what they must do; so put away evil and purify yourself in holy living and the blood of the lamb, escape the coming tribulation. Be with the church that is taken up into heaven. This is the pre-tribulation rapture view. Some believe the church will go through the tribulation. The elect of Israel who have not received Christ Jesus, before the tribulation, will go through the wrath to come.

Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

I prefer to be with those taken up before the great tribulation.

Revelation - Where do we stand?

Where do we stand?

What is Jesus saying to the seven churches, to the fullness of the church? What is he saying to you and I, for we are part of his church? What does he commend and what does he hate? Don't we need to know this? What about grace to be saved and not works?

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

So many do nothing after being saved. Many churches are content to be just saved by grace, yes, amen. But do not teach to the church that they are not to do good works. What does verse ten say?

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. What is Jesus saying to the church? We are the church.

I will let you review the different church names and their strengths and weaknesses. I want to just list the important things. Search your heart to see where you stand in the faith.

What Jesus commends:

We are to reject evil, we are to be holy as he is holy.

We are to keep the faith, pure doctrine in the Spirit of truth.

We are to persevere, not give up. No one said it would be easy, but Jesus has given us God's word and His Spirit to give us strength.

We are to gracefully bear suffering and persecution. Jesus really likes that.

We are to be patient, with love and service.

Criticisms, things to repent from:

No longer having fervent love for Jesus, as in the beginning

Tolerating immorality, idolatry and heresies...not to be tolerant of satan's things. Repent, judgment coming, keep the faith

Indifference, neither hot nor cold, be zealous and repent

You are just dead, no spiritual life in you, repent strengthen what remains.

If we do well we will rewarded in the New Jerusalem when Jesus Christ returns.

Overcomers Promises:

The tree of life

The crown of life

Hidden manna and a white stone with a new name

Rule over nations and receive the morning star

Faithful are rewarded and will wear white raiment

A place in God's presence, a new name

Share Christ's throne

We cannot please God unless Jesus is in our heart. He is knocking so let him in, with the Holy Spirit. You cannot make it without him. He does care about our works after salvation. I suggest that you carefully study what he likes and dislikes and walk so as to please him. These are written for all the church.

Revelation - Jesus knocking

Jesus knocking

Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Jesus stood in the midst of the candlesticks, representing the churches. Was the Laodicean church the one church that he was not in the midst of? Perhaps, but this is personal, to each member of a church.

2 Cor 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

To be in a church requires a confession of faith. Let this be a true change in your heart, for if Jesus is not in you and you in him, you are not his. He gives you his Holy Spirit.

Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Rom 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Do you have the new eternal life? Or are you trusting in yourself and the worlds things?

Rev 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

You overcome the world, flesh and the devil, by the blood of the Lamb, by faith, by his grace, by His Spirit abiding in you. Open the door to your heart, you who are dead in spirit. Open the door to Jesus dead church, and let him give you new life.

Rev 3:22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

The Spirit is talking to you and I and all who name the name of Jesus. He is talking to the churches, for in the new kingdom there shall one church, the redeemed of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

Revelation - Laodicean church

The Church of the Laodiceans

Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

The name laodicea means, "ruled by the people" give the people what they want to hear, a user friendly church, a social club, but not a church obeying God in holiness and in truth, reaching the lost with the sword of the word and delivering them from satans bondage. Jesus describes himself to the Laodicean church as the amen, "so be it"

2 Cor 1:19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.
2 Cor 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
2 Cor 1:21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
2 Cor 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

The faithful and true witness. Jesus, denying himself obeyed God the Father. He was faithful all the way to the cross. He spoke the word of truth as he received it from the Father. He was in the beginning with the Father as the Word. His title was the Living Word of God; God the Son.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

We know who Jesus is and he knows our works, as he speaks to the church at Laodicea. Many agree that this is the predominant church in our nation, but hopefully not the church we attend.

Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

They are neither hot nor cold, they were neutral, indifferent, perhaps the word "tolerant" would fit them, they were not for or against anything. They were no threat to the world and of no use to God. Jesus said, as lukewarm they were vomited out of his mouth.

Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

They were rich in things, needing nothing, but Jesus saw their hearts; and they didn't even know that they were spiritually wretched, and poor, and blind, and naked:

Heb 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Jesus, the counsellor: Buy of him gold tried in the fire,

James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
James 4:9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

1 Pet 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

They needed faith in Jesus, proven faith that endures the fiery trials.

And white raiment, that you may be clothed. They needed to be clothed with the righteousness of God, through the blood of Jesus. They needed to be covered with the righteousness of grace through Jesus Christ.

Gal 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Mark 9:2 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.
Mark 9:3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

If not clothed in the righteousness of Christ, you will not be chosen to be his eternal bride with the true church of God. Ask him to forgive your sins and make him Lord of your life. We receive from him by believing in him.

Mat 22:11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
Mat 22:12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
Mat 22:13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

God loves us, so we must trust and obey in him over and above our earthly treasures.

Mat 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Be Zealous

Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Titus 2:15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Be on fire for Jesus, doing his will and going through doors of opportunity with nothing but faith in him, his Spirit and his word in your heart.

Revelation - the church in Sardis

The church in Philadelphia

Rev 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

Philadelphia, means brotherly love. Jesus speaks to them as he that is holy, true, and having the key of David. As the Son of God, Jesus is holy and true, the light of truth. He was the son of man, after king David. David could not save anyone, but Jesus has the power to change and to save people. He has dominion over heaven and earth.

Mat 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Only Jesus can give this power to his disciples.

Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

He has absolute power over life and death.

Rev 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

They were commended for keeping his word, and not denying his name. Jesus is the door to God, they have access, but they have little strength. They had little strength, but the Holy Spirit would give them what was needed. An open door refers to opportunities in ministry.

2 Cor 2:12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord.

1 Cor 16:8 But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.
1 Cor 16:9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

We will have open doors for ministry. Prepare now and walk through the doors that open to you.

Rev 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

They were persecuted by the Jewish community who were actually serving satan. Thesewere not spiritual Jews. God would avenge them by having Jews bow to them, recognizing Jesus as Lord.

1 Cor 14:24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
1 Cor 14:25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

People are saved by God through the spoken word believed.

Rev 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

They are kept from the hour of temptation or tribulation, to try the unbelievers on earth. Perhaps they would be raptured before the tribulation?

Rom 2:5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Rom 2:6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
Rom 2:7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
Rom 2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Rom 2:9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
Rom 2:10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
Rom 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

Rev 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Behold, he will come unexpectedly: hold fast to what you have. They have love, faithfulness to God, evangelistic opportunities and reliance on God's Spirit. They will receive a crown of victory, let no man take this from you. Do not receive unbelief.

Rev 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

The ancient city of Philadelphia suffered from frequent earthquakes.When a building collapsed in an earthquake often all that remained were the huge pillars. Jesus offers us this same strength, to remain standing in Him when everything around us crumbles.(Guzik)

A pillar must be built on a strong foundation.

1 Cor 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

We will receive new names and titles from our Lord. Jesus gave names to his disciples describing their character.

Mark 3:17 And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:

Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

1 Pet 2:4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
1 Pet 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
1 Pet 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

Rev 3:13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Keep standing in faith and walk through the doors of opportunity as they are opened to you. Our strength is His strength. He has called you for His purpose and he has a new name for you. Philadelphia, the church that God spoke well of.

Revelation - The church in Sardis

The Church in Sardis

Rev 3:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

Sardis was on an important trade route. The first coins made were made in Sardis. It was a place of ease and luxury. It was known for apathy and immorality. Even the pagans called it a place of self indulgence and decadence. The city was protected by steep cliff walls. Because the city had natural defenses, they were lazy about having watchmen. King Cyrus sent his soldiers up a hidden trail, scaling the cliffs in the night, they conquered the unguarded city.

Jesus described himself to this church as having the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars. Using the number seven as fullness; Jesus had the fullness of God's Spirit and was the head or fullness of the church.

Jesus knew their works, you have a name that you live, (perhaps, the church of life?) but you are dead. Churches may promote themselves as being the church where truth and light and miracles are, but in truth Jesus says, they are dead.

Rev 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Jesus speaks to an apathetic worldly church. Remember, you heard at one time and received, hold fast and repent; Jesus spoke this verse to Ephesus, which was stronger in faith:

Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Jesus was not pleased with the works of the church in Sardis. They may have been meeting as a church, but they were an apathetic dead in Spirit church. He warned them that he would come suddenly as a thief. This was the rapture or the sudden judgment of God.

1 Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
1 Th 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
1 Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
1 Th 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
1 Th 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Rev 3:4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

There was a remnant that had not defiled their garments; sexual sin, drunkenness, immoral living.

Jude 1:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

A few, who call themselves his church in Sardis, shall be saved and clothed in white: for they are worthy.

Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

He that overcometh, who serve the Lord in truth, not indulging in sinful things, shall be clothed in white raiment and his name will not be blotted out of the book of life? Can names be blotted out? Some may think that their name is in the book, but they are not.

Rev 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Rev 3:6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Revelation - church in Thyiatira

The Church in Thyatira

Rev 2:18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;

Thyatira was a small city, where many trade guilds were, each having their own pagan patron deity. Meat was sacrificed to idols with feasts, with much immorality to these various patron deities. There was cotton and wool and Lydia sold her purple dye from here. She became Paul's first Asian convert.

Acts 16:13 And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.
Acts 16:14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.

The dye came from a sea slug. I have seen sea slugs from our west coast ocean that would emit a cloud of purple to protect itself when bothered. There is a color, Lydian purple, from this Biblical name.

Jesus describes himself as the one speaking, showing different views of His glory, as he chooses to be seen by the church. To Thyatira he speaks as the Son of God, with eyes that see with fiery judgment, and feet like fine brass, strong and beautiful.

Rev 2:19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

Jesus commended them for their works of charity and service, and patience. Some describe this church as being during the time of the dark ages, from 500-1500. Their works towards the last, were greater than the first.

Rev 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

Jesus introduced himself as God the Son, there were to be no others worshipped. Mary is not to be worshipped, she is to be honored but not above Jesus. we are not to pray to patron saints, we are to pray to God the Father through his son. The Jezebel spirit brought harassment and false teachings into the church. Our God is a jealous God and we are to worship him in truth. Those of every church who love Jesus want to please him. Jezebel also claimed to be a prophetess, the spirit of Jezebel brought false words and not truth to the church. There was also sexual fornication.

Rev 2:21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

The Jezebel spirit, took on the ways of the pagans. No repentance and Jesus was not pleased.

Rev 2:22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

Cast into a bed, perhaps meaning an illness because she did not repent. Paul spoke of those who partook of the Lord's supper unworthily.

1 Cor 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
1 Cor 11:30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
1 Cor 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

Rev 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

Exo 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Exo 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
Exo 20:6 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Rev 2:24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.

Do not follow pagan idolatry and fornication and you will not be cursed.

Rev 2:25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.

Titus 1:9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

Rev 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
Rev 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

Rev 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Rev 2:28 And I will give him the morning star.

Jesus is the bright and morning star. He will give them himself. Why would we want a stupid idol, when Jesus wishes to give himself to us? We, as the church are the bride of Christ.

Rev 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

Rev 2:29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Are we listening?

Church in Pergamos

The church in Pergamos

Rev 2:12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;

Jesus, who wields the sword of truth; his word spoken by the Spirit of God. Better listen when Jesus speaks.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Heb 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

To the church of Pergamos, to the angel, or spiritual messenger.

Rev 2:13 I know thy works and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

The church was commended for holding fast to the name of Jesus and not denying the faith. Antipas, was described as a faithful martyr. He died for his faith in Jesus. We know nothing more about him.

They dwelled where satan's throne was. Apparently satan was worshipped in this city in many ways. This was the official meeting place for the Roman government and Caesar worship. Other gods were worshipped here. A two hundred foot high altar was built for the god, zeus, who was given worship as all powerful and good, stealing glory from the true God. Satan is a thief. There was another god worshipped, aesclepius, who was worshipped as a healer, his symbol was a serpent. Our God is the true healer. These God's took away from the true god. Idolatry is worshipping a false god, something that takes away from our worship of the Living God.

Rev 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

This church was not doctrinally pure. They were covetous, they ate things sacrificed to idols and they committed fornication, sexualsin.

Rev 2:15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate.

They had leadership that were lording over the people. They also lived immorally. They would today be allowing homosexuals in leadership. They were not living according to the truth of God.

John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Rev 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Repent now, or face the sword when Jesus returns taking God's wrath on those who do not follow him. He will judge by his word. Repent, study and do his will now.

Rev 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

The hidden manna, the word hidden from those who do not seek him. Repent, dig deeper in his Bible and he will show you new things. He will give you a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, a personal name.

White stones were used in old times in a court, to signify the person not guilty.

The stone may possibly refer to a ministry gift. For it is for that person, and not another. Peter was told his ministry by Jesus, and when Peter inquired about what John was to do? Jesus, said in affect, none of your business.

John 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

John 21:20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
John 21:21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
John 21:22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
John 21:23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?

Follow Jesus, do not be as the world, sensual, covetous, lovers of pleasures. Nor be idolaters, seeking to worship false idols. Be Christians in word and in deed, not just in name only.
