Isaiah 11 - Another Deliverance

Another Deliverance

Isa 11:10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

In that day, when Jesus, the root of Jesse, returns to earth to be king. He shall stand as an ensign, a banner to be drawn to.

Song 2:4 He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.

Gentiles shall seek him and his rest is glorious.

Isa 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
Isa 60:3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
Isa 60:4 Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.

Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Heb 3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
Heb 3:9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
Heb 3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
Heb 3:11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

Isa 11:11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
Isa 11:12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

The first time was the deliverance from Egypt.

Rom 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
Rom 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

Mark 13:26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
Mark 13:27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

Isaiah 11 - Jesus Shall Reign

Jesus Shall Reign

Isa 11:6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
Isa 11:7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

When Jesus returns to reign for a thousand years, creation will be restored to how it was before the fall of Adam and Eve. There will be no flesh eating animals.

Gen 1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

Isa 11:8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.

The cockatrice, or the serpents den, shall be safe for a child; they no longer threaten with a poisonous bite.

There is no repentance for the devil. Where is the devil?

Rev 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

Isa 11:9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

Even the creation shall benefit by the righteous reign of the Messiah.

Rom 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Rom 8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
Rom 8:21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
Rom 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

Imagine how it will be, to live on a restored earth with peace? We shall return with the king to rule and to reign with him.

2 Tim 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Isaiah 11 - Righteous Judgement

Righteous Judgement

Isa 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

John 5:31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
John 5:32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

John 7:28 Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
John 7:29 But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.

John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

John 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
John 12:50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
John 14:11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

Isa 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
Isa 11:5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Rev 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Rev 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

It is wonderful, how the LORD speaks to us the same truth from several prophets and servants, by the Spirit of truth. The word of God is true, no other place is there consistent truth, cover to cover as in the Holy Bible. Salvation is by faith and by the Holy Spirit we are able to see the wonderful word of God. Those who say the Bible is just another book, have not the Spirit of God. As Jesus did all things by the Spirit of God, so shall we. As he is righteous we are in Him, righteous adopted children of God. If we sin we by the Spirit confess our sins and we are restored.

Isaiah - The Branch of Jesse

The Branch of Jesse

Isa 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

Out of Jesse, the father of king David a branch shall grow out of his roots. The tree that has been a dormant stump for 600 years, shall bring forth a new living branch, the Lord Jesus Christ. God keeps His promises, in His time.

Jer 33:14 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.
Jer 33:15 In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

Zec 3:8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.

Zec 6:12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
Zec 6:13 Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

Isa 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

The Spirit of God shall rest on him; their are seven qualities of this one Spirit:
the Spirit of the Lord,
the spirit of wisdom
and understanding,
the spirit of counsel,
and might,
the spirit of knowledge
and the fear of the LORD.

This passage is behind the term the sevenfold Spirit of God used in Revelation 1:4, 3:1, 4:5 and 5:6. It isn't that there are seven different spirits of God, rather the Spirit of the LORD has these characteristics, and He has them all in fullness and perfection.(Guzik)

Jesus put aside his Godhead, which had all of these qualities.

Phil 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Phil 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Phil 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

He put on the Spirit of God, that has the qualities of God, the same Spirit that is available to us. The Spirit of God is also the Spirit of Jesus. If we are Spirit filled, we are filled with the presence of Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit of God, connects us to the Father and the Son, we are spiritual adopted sons of God. We may ask and receive wisdom, understanding, good advice, power to do his will, knowledge and the fear of the LORD. The world does not honor and fear the LORD, because they have not His Spirit.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Isaiah 10 - Invasion Foretold

Invasion Foretold

Isa 10:28 He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages:

The prophet speaks of the cities and the way that Assyrian's would enter Jerusalem.

Isa 10:29 They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.

These are cities of the tribe of Benjamin, the tribe of King Saul.

Isa 10:30 Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth.

Gallim was the home of Phalti, who married Sauls daughter, who had been David's wife. David reclaimed her and Phalti cried out in anguish.

1 Sam 25:44 But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, which was of Gallim.

2 Sam 3:15 And Ishbosheth sent, and took her from her husband, even from Phaltiel the son of Laish.
2 Sam 3:16 And her husband went with her along weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then said Abner unto him, Go, return. And he returned.

He should have left her with him, for she mocked him and he had no more to do with her.

O poor Anathoth; this was Jeremiah's home town.

Jer 1:1 The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:

Isa 10:31 Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.

The people flee from the cities.

Isa 10:32 As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

Assyria will advance and shake it's hand at Jerusalem. This is as far as the army of the Assyrians came against Judah. They were stopped here when the LORD killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in one night. (2King 19:35)

Isa 10:33 Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.
Isa 10:34 And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.

The mighty army, princes and haughty leaders of the Assyrian army would be cut down in one day, by the power of God.

Isaiah 10 - The Yoke Shall Be Destroyed

The Yoke Shall Be Destroyed

Isa 10:24 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.

Therefore, I have told you what I will do, a remnant will return and Assyria will be destroyed; Do not be afraid, though he shall smite you with a rod of correction, and shall lift up his staff of you, making slaves of you as when you were in Egypt.

Isa 10:25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.

Hold on, for a little while shall be my rod of correction and then my displeasure shall cease; then my anger will turn towards Assyria and their destruction.

James 4:16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

Isa 10:26 And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.

The LORD of hosts shall punish the Assyrians as he did according to the slaughter of Midian. He sent angels, and will send angels against the Assyrians.

2 Ki 19:31 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
2 Ki 19:32 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.
2 Ki 19:33 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.
2 Ki 19:34 For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
2 Ki 19:35 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

...and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.

As Moses lifted his rod and the Red Sea parted, so will their fate be as the Egyptianswho followed after them, and were drowned in the sea.

No nation who opposes God and His people shall prosper.

Psa 37:18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
Psa 37:19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
Psa 37:20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

Isa 10:27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

Jer 28:2 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

Zec 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

This can be understood as future, through Jesus, as well.

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luke 4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luke 4:20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
Luke 4:21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.\

Isaiah 10 - A Remnant

A Remnant

Isa 10:20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

A remnant of Israel and Judah, would trust the Lord and serve him. They no longer would put their trust in Assyria. Can a nation be trusted by bribes and promises? King Ahaz of Judah, tried this.

2 Ki 16:8 And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

Are alliances made with gifts? Judah had become as the enemy, seeking pleasures and false gods. Would not God chastise his wayward son? A merciful God offers comfort: a remnant of the children of the house of Jacob would return to him.

Rom 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
Rom 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Isa 10:21 The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.

Remember Isaiah's son was named Shearjashubas, a remnant shall return, an illustration to King Ahaz.

Isa 7:3 Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field;
Isa 7:4 And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted...

The remnant shall repent, be converted, believing in the coming Messiah and trusting God.

Isa 10:22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

This small remnant will overflow with righteousness.

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Isa 10:23 For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in themidst of all the land.

Most of the unrighteous would be consumed, destroyed and the righteous remnant shall be set free. Many of the prophecies have a double fulfillment, then and in the future reign of Christ. God shall always preserve a remnant of His people. When people turn from the truth, it is a sign of evil coming and Judgment.

2 Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
2 Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Choose who you will serve, for a dividing is taking place. Will you be of the remnant by faith in Jesus and God the Father?

Isaiah 10 - Assyria's Judgment Given

Assyria's Judgment Given

Isa 10:15 Shall the ax boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.

God is in control, no one can do anything mighty or good without him. Assyria was boasting in themselves, and God responds to their arrogance. They were just a tool in the masters hand.

Jer 18:3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
Jer 18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
Jer 18:5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Jer 18:6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

God can use an evil nation for His purpose, how much more will he use his own people? He cannot use a sinful people, especially if they are arrogant and unrepentant. He would use Assyria to humble Israel and to bring them to repentance; for sure God would not let Assyria's pride go without reproof.

Isa 10:16 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.

Judgment would come to Assyria, destruction and death, and their glory would be burnt up.

Isa 10:17 And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;

God is the light of Israel, Jesus is the light, His holy one for a flame, a consuming fire. Thorns and briars were part of the curse on Adam, the Assyrians were as these, to be burned with fire.

Isa 10:18 And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth.

The army of Assyria was compared to a forest, and its fruitful field, it's leaders and treasures they had acquired, body and soul consumed or scattered in confusion, as when a standard bearer faints.

Isa 10:19 And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.

There were so few left that a child could count them on his hand. So much for the pride and glory of Assyria, or any nation that leaves God and is full of self pride.

What of Isaiah the prophet? God had given him the future to write down, the truth of God foretold. What an awesome God, who knows our beginnings, our purpose and the whole future of man. We can lean on His everlasting arms and go forth in His purpose. He leads us, what better leader is there and who better to intrust our lives?

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Isaiah 10 - Assyria's Pride

Assyria's Pride

Isa 10:5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

God uses Assyria to bring vengeance to a self righteous, idol worshipping Israel.

Isa 10:6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

God used Assyria to chastise his nation Israel, however Assyria had evil plans to destroy and pillage the nation. Assyria cannot escape God's judgment either, if their motives were evil. Assyria must learn that God is the one to control the powers, not satan.

Isa 10:7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.
Isa 10:8 For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings?
Isa 10:9 Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?

Assyria was boasting in their past victories, as well as their plans to destroy Israel.

Isa 10:10 As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria:
Isa 10:11 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?
Isa 10:12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

God would punish Israel, but idol worshipping Assyria, will not escape the righteous judgment of God, because the king is lifted up with pride.

1 Pet 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

Prov 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Prov 16:19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Isa 10:13 For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and haverobbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:
Isa 10:14 And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

No work of the nations is without God's knowledge and design. If evil is done, God will bring vengeance. in his time.

Rom 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Rom 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

The United States at war, in my life time, has never did it for wealth. Always the nations who lost in battle, were rebuilt and helped. If a nation makes war for evil purposes, God will take vengeance upon it.

Isaiah 10 - Woe to the Unjust

Woe to the Unjust

Isa 10:1 Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;

Another woe of judgment of God on Israel; upon those who write wicked laws or rulings to oppress the people, or to exalt that which the Bible condemns.

Isa 10:2 To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!

Jesus spoke of these matters when he taught.

Mat 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

Mat 23:14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

Mat 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Isa 10:3 And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?

If you deal wrongly with one another, who will you turn to when the Assyrians come?

Jesus spoke of how doing evil in good times, when Jesus was present, would make it almost impossible to survive in bad times.

Luke 23:28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
Luke 23:29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
Luke 23:30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
Luke 23:31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

Our everyday walk with the LORD prepares us for surviving the bad times. If we say we are a victim, and cannot get through small problem in good times, what will happen in evil times to our faith?

Isa10:4 Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Without God they have no hope against the coming enemies; some will be taken as prisoners and others will die.

In Christ Jesus, we are never without hope.

Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Rom 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Isaiah9 - Uncontrolled Fire

Uncontrolled Fire

Isa 9:18 For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.

Israel's wickedness is out of control, destroying everything in its way.

James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
James 3:7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Our words can bless or destroy, we also need to watch our behavior.

Isa 9:19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.

The wickedness of the people makes God's wrath, the fire greater. They will consume one another because of their sins. Sin begat's sin and under the law, God must punish the sin.

Gal 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Gal 5:15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Jesus is the way of grace and love. The law condemns. We try to always walk in the Spirit, avoiding the confusion and strife of the flesh and the devil.

Isa 9:20 And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:

God will not restrain their behavior and they would become more and more violent against one another and against Judah. One way God judges, is to move aside and let free will sin continue until they destroy themselves. They then cry in anger where is this God. I do not see him, why has he let such evil happen? God does not do evil, our choices are evil and lead to destruction, yes even of the innocent children. People sin and then blame God, the blame game. God does not play games, He withdraws from sin. If they would repent and seek God the evil would be done away with.

Isa 9:21 Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Isaiah 9 - Leaders Cut Off

Leaders Cut Off

Isa 9:13 For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.

The people do not respond to God's chastening, they ignor him and go their own way.

Luke 11:34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
Luke 11:35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.

Isa 9:14 Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.
Isa 9:15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.
Isa 9:16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.

The LORD will cut off, remove as branches from a tree that which does not produce fruit. The head, the elders and leaders, lead in error. The prophets are false, speaking lies for truth. The leaders listen to the counsel of men pleasing prophets, instead of the truth. They needed to humble themselves, repent and seek the mercy of the LORD.

Isa 9:17 Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

The whole nation of people were as the leaders, false and corrupt.

Looking back to America and the Viet Nam war. The leaders of America may have led in error, but the rebelling people were no better. They spoke folly and were hypocrits. The young men returned from war with dishonor from the loud mouthed drug using rebels. They turned against the Christian religion and the traditions of the Fathers and became idolaters of lust and foolish religions.

Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Rom 3:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Isaiah 9 - Unrighteous Pride

Unrighteous Pride

Isa 9:8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
Isa 9:9 And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,

Because of unrighteous pride, God would allow Israel to be defeated by it's enemies. Ephraim was the largest tribe in Israel, so often it is referred to in place of Israel. Samaria, was the capital of the Northern kingdom of Israel.

Isa 9:10 The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycamores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.

They did not seem to understand or care that God had judged them, they had plans to rebuild.

Was God judging America by letting the twin towers fall by an enemies terror? I see that there are plans to rebuild, bigger than ever. Should we not seek God as a nation, instead of rejecting him?

Isa 9:11 Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;

God would send enemy nations, one after another until there would be no Israel. Is God send America warnings? Storms, strange weather, earthquakes. calamities? Should we not fall on our faces before God? Many only complain and look to government, an evil and selfish generation, looting, and taking from others in time of distress. God bless those who come to help, to show Christian love in helping those in need. Still we must trust in the Lord each minute of every day. Israel would not repent and seek God, so God allowed the enemy to come in.

9:12 The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Four sections, from Isa 9:8 through 10:4, conclude with; For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Woe to a people, when the God of love becomes angry, because of continued sin.

Isa 3:9 The show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

Genesis 3 - The Serpent

The Serpent

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

The serpent was satan or was indwelt by satan.

Satan was in the garden

Ezek 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

Satan was created with beautiful precious stones covering him, similar to how New Jersualem will look, even with transparent gold. He was created with music, tabrets or tamberines, and pipes, flutes or organ sounds.

Ezek 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

He covered the holy of holies in heaven.

Ezek 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

He was created perfect, until iniquity was found in him. What was his sin? Pride, wanting to make himself as God. Angels are created to serve, not to rebel. There is no repentance for a rebelling angel.

Ezek 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

Satan was full of self and God cast him out and will destroy him. He knows his time is short.

Ezek 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

He thought he was so special, full of pride, he was cast to the earth, we will see his end.

Ezek 28:18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by theiniquity of thy traffic; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
Ezek 28:19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

He will be no more, thrown into the lake of fire.

The serpent or dragon

Job 26:13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

Isa 51:9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon?

Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Rev 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, Sin judged, the brass serpent on the cross.

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

Brass is a type of judgment. Jesus judged the devil upon the cross.

Pride, I will be as God

Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Isa 14:16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
Isa 14:17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?

...Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

He planted doubt into Eves mind. To doubt God is to sin. Satan, the liar, seemed to have more authority than God. We must not follow any other spirit, that is not in accord with God's word.

Isaiah 9 - Jesus Shall Reign Forever

Jesus shall reign forever

Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Jesus is the fulfillment of the prophecy that an everlasting king would come from David's lineage.

Psa 89:36 His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me.

2 Sam 7:16 And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

Psa 72:11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.

The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. God came in a man; Jesus shall reign, forever, amen.
