Isaiah 9 - Unrighteous Pride

Unrighteous Pride

Isa 9:8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
Isa 9:9 And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,

Because of unrighteous pride, God would allow Israel to be defeated by it's enemies. Ephraim was the largest tribe in Israel, so often it is referred to in place of Israel. Samaria, was the capital of the Northern kingdom of Israel.

Isa 9:10 The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycamores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.

They did not seem to understand or care that God had judged them, they had plans to rebuild.

Was God judging America by letting the twin towers fall by an enemies terror? I see that there are plans to rebuild, bigger than ever. Should we not seek God as a nation, instead of rejecting him?

Isa 9:11 Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;

God would send enemy nations, one after another until there would be no Israel. Is God send America warnings? Storms, strange weather, earthquakes. calamities? Should we not fall on our faces before God? Many only complain and look to government, an evil and selfish generation, looting, and taking from others in time of distress. God bless those who come to help, to show Christian love in helping those in need. Still we must trust in the Lord each minute of every day. Israel would not repent and seek God, so God allowed the enemy to come in.

9:12 The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Four sections, from Isa 9:8 through 10:4, conclude with; For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Woe to a people, when the God of love becomes angry, because of continued sin.

Isa 3:9 The show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
