Revelation 20 - Great White Throne

Great white throne

Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

The great white throne, the holy throne, and him who set on it. The most holy one who is separated apart from all creation, for he is greater; who can compare him with any created thing? He is above all powers and glory.

Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Before the great white throne, were those in the second resurrection; the dead, small and the great, standing before the very God who created them. The Father God, of Jesus Christ and the saints, the redeemed. Here he sat and before him all unsaved people must stand and give an account for all they did in their lives. No sin may enter heaven, for heaven is a holy dwelling place of God and His spiritual people. The books were opened, perhaps containing a record of each life and the opportunities to receive God, that were ignored or turned down. Everything would be judged by God's righteousness. The book of life was opened, containing the names of the redeemed.

Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Phil 4:3 And I entreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Who were these at the great white throne? They were those whose names were not written in the book of life. Those who followed the ways of iniquity. Some were those who worshipped the beast, the antichrist.

Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Rev 13:9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.

Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

The sea is mentioned along with hell as holding the dead. The dead bodies and the dead souls were delivered up in spiritual bodies and every person was judged according to their works.

Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

What of these spiritual bodies of the dead? In some places they were described as a worm.

Job 25:4 How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?
Job 25:5 Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight.
Job 25:6 How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?

Psa 22:6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

Isa 66:24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

Worms could also refer to torment and reproach.

Mark 9:44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Isa 41:14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

Are you a worm? Then turn to Jesus he will forgive your sins. The caterpiller worm shall be transformed into a beautiful butterfly. The dead shall receive new life in Christ Jesus.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Don't wait to come to the Father at the great white throne judgment. It will be too late to be forgiven.

Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Death and hell are are cast into the lake of fire. What does this mean? It means from that time on, no one shall die, for all in Christ shall live. Hell is cast into the lake of fire? this is a dwelling place for the wicked, it is going to a place of everlasting torment. Will hell be empty? No, it will be full.

Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

The dead without Christ Jesus shall go to everlasting torment in the lake of fire. The place of hell, the dwelling place of the spiritually dead whose souls live as worms in an eternal place of separation from God. Avoid it. You do not want to come to Jesus now, you want no part of God? This could be your everlasting home. For the Christian, now, we must warn the lost, we cannot live in self centered ease, when so many shall have eternal damnation. It is time to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Believe in Jesus Christ and receive eternal life.
