Revelation 18 - Babylon is fallen

Babylon is Fallen

Rev 18:5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

The world at the end shall have no fear of God. God was cast out of their way of life, so God would cast them out. They would receive His wrath. Their sins remained. God wants us to fear him and to come to Jesus, but most will not.

Psa 103:11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
Psa 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Psa 103:13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
Psa 103:14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

Rev 18:6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.

God will require double from Babylon, according to her evil works: return twice to her of what she has taken or done wrong to others. This was required of the law that a thief pay back double. This indicates that most of the wealth was acquired by stealing.

Exo 22:4 If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.

Rev 18:7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

First, she has glorified herself. A self centered ME culture, giving no glory to God or to the needs of those in need. She has lived deliciously, only the best for her own self-indulgence.

Luke 12:19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
Luke 12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
Luke 12:21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Justice is to give her much punishment and sorrow. Wow, self indulgent America, are we listening? Fear not, if you fear God and are in Christ Jesus, you shall not see the wrath of God.

Second is the sin of pride: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen,

Prov 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Prov 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Prov 16:19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

The destruction of economic Babylon will come swiftly, in one day.

Rev 18:8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

Thirdly, Babylon avoided suffering: and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine

Even as she avoided God with her avoidance of suffering, even God shall send suffering to her.

Prov 6:15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Be encouraged, if you suffer in Christ

2 Cor 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
2 Cor 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
2 Cor 1:5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

Rev 18:9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
Rev 18:10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

Like Lot's wife they look back at that which God called abomination and he destroyed by his angels.

Gen 19:26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Don't desire the evil of the world, but seek the food things of God.

Luke 12:29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
Luke 12:30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
Luke 12:31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
