Revelation 20 - First Resurrection

First Resurrection

Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Thrones, perhaps the thrones of those who will reign with Christ as kings and judges during the Millennium.

Rev 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Cor 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

Included are the martyrs that would not submit to the beast, nor take his mark.

Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

Those in the first resurrection are the blessed of God who are given eternal life and who are given authority in the Millennium.

Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Those who return with Christ in their glorified bodies, are no longer subject to sin or judgment. The second resurrection are the damned, without Christ. They will be judged according to their works. They are cursed, powerless, and without any honor or hope. Some are teaching that hell is just death and that the second resurrection judgment, the great white throne judgment sends every one to destruction; no suffering and no memory. The Bible does not say this. It is a time to receive an eternal body to be placed in a place of torment. Hell was created for satan and his angels; evil humans go there too. Those beings who go there shall be tormented day and night forever.

The devils know this.

Mat 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

Mark 5:7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
Mark 5:8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

The rich man in hell knows.

Luke 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Luke 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

Jesus spoke of it.

Mat 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Do you know the truth? There is eternal torment, but God sent his son to be tormented and shamed, taking sins punishment in your place.

Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus paid the price to give you eternal life with him. Jesus is the way to be forgiven of sin. No sin shall enter God's presence. Will you be in the first resurrection, or the second? Decide now before it is too late. Humble yourself before almighty God and ask Jesus to forgive you and to give you eternal life.
