Luke - Paradise

Luke 23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

This one commanded Jesus, as if he were the devil. This is no way to come to Jesus for salvation.

Mat 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Luke 23:40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

The other thief saw Jesus as the Son of God. Show respect, who are you to command Jesus?

Luke 23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

God's punishment for sins is just. The one thief knew the law and accepted the judgment for law breaking. By respecting the law, he respected the law maker. Those who have no respect for the law, or want to do the law their way, have little respect for God. They place themselves above the law giver.

Luke 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

He called Jesus master and believed in his kingdom. He believed in Jesus. Remember me, Lord.

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

With Jesus, haleluia. Being with Jesus is eternal life. Paradise is a place where those of faith went, awaiting the coming of the savior. Paradise was close to hell but separated by a gulf.

Luke 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
Luke 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Luke 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luke 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Luke 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Luke 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
