Luke - He is Risen

He is Risen

Luke 24:1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

The women who loved the Lord Jesus and who had prepared burial spices arrive very early Sunday morning at the cave tomb.

Luke 24:2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.

Matthew's gospel explains how the stone was rolled aside.

Mat 28:2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
Mat 28:3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
Mat 28:4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

Luke 24:3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
Luke 24:4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

They had shining garments, apparently they were angels.

Luke 24:5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

We do not bow to men, but they knew these were of God. Why seek the dead among the living?

A young woman just contacted me that her great grandmother died. She said that it is not fair. Her grandmother if she trusted in Jesus is alive with him. Why mourn for the living? Jesus makes things more than fair. He has overcome death and hell. Trust in Jesus, ask him to remove your sins and to give you eternal life.

Luke 24:6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
Luke 24:7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

He is risen! The grave could not hold him down. This is the evidence that he was of God. He is God, the Son.

1 Cor 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
1 Cor 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
1 Cor 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Luke 24:8 And they remembered his words,

Mat 17:22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:
Mat 17:23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

Mat 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Mat 28:7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
