Luke - Behold Your Master

Behold your master

Luke 24:33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,
Luke 24:34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.
Luke 24:35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.

The two disciples who Jesus taught on the road to Emmaus, return to testify to the eleven. They spoke that the Lord had risen and had appeared to Simon, Simon was probably among the eleven as they spoke. They told him of Jesus, the Master Teacher telling them his story from the old testament and how he broke bread with them. Were the elenen believing these two witnesses? They had Simon Peter and the witness of Mary Magdalene, but still they were not believing.

Luke 24:36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

Out of nowhere Jesus suddenly appeared, saying Peace be unto you.

Luke 24:37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
Luke 24:38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
They thought he was a spirit, much like when he appeared in a storm walking on the sea.

Mat 14:26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

Jesus was risen bodily.

Luke 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
Luke 24:40 And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet.
Luke 24:41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

They examined the proof, the nail holes, left for them to see it was he. They were perplexed and full of joy, but still in wonder.

Luke 24:42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
Luke 24:43 And he took it, and did eat before them.

He ate before them. This was proof his body was risen, does a spirit eat food? What about in our glorified bodies, not of flesh and bones? Will we be able to eat? I believe so, for their will be prepared for us a wedding feast.

Rev 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

Mark 14:25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

Jesus was risen in a fleshly body and is now at the right hand of the Father in his glorified body. We shall be like him, partaking of the eternal bread of life. Jesus is the bread of life
