Isaiah 4 - Our plans and His

Our plans and His

Isa 5:8 Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!

Real estate developers, who build many houses close together, hoping to become rich on their investment. Often the desire for gain does not take into account the need for places untouched by hands. We need places to be alone with God; gardens, wide spaces of trees or wilderness, These are the places Jesus retreated to for prayer. This is where I go to be alone with God.

Luke 5:15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. Luke 5:16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

John 18:1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.
John 18:2 And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples. Sometimes the devil follows us into the wilderness.

Mat 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
Mat 4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered.

We bring the word of God with us.

1 Pet 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
1 Pet 5:9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.

We need places to go to concentrate on the Lord, his promises and the direction of our life. We want to love him and to be servants with our whole heart.

Isa 5:9 In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.

True prosperity is of the LORD. If we leave God out of our plans, often the plans do not prosper. Even when we serve the Lord, our plans may not prosper; if we do His will, we prosper.

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Isa 5:10 Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.

Ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath: a bath is seven and a half gallons of grape juice...not very much for so many acres of vines.

Ezek 45:10  Ye shall have just balances, and a just ephah, and a just bath.
Ezek 45:11  The ephah and the bath shall be of one measure, that the bath may contain the tenth part of an homer, and the ephah the tenth part of an homer: the measure thereof shall be after the homer.
Ezek 45:12  And the shekel shall be twenty gerahs: twenty shekels, five and twenty shekels, fifteen shekels, shall be your maneh.

The seed of a homer; eight bushels of seed produce only an ephah, which is three-fifths of a bushel. Better put; from Ezekial, a homer yielded only a shekel, a tenth of the seed planted.

If we wish to prosper, let it be in the Lord, not in silver and gold. He is our abundance and our provision. Sow with the Lord's blessings and come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.
