Revelation 22 - River of Life

River of Life

Rev 22:1 And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Water is life to living things.

Psa 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

John 4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

The water that Jesus gives is of the Holy Spirit. What kind of water is in our spiritual dwelling place? Is the pure water actual water? Or is it the outflowing of God's Holy Spirit? Will we need water in heaven? The water proceeds from the throne of God and the Lamb.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

The Spirit will abide with the saints forever; living water that will not be shut off. The word of God is also as water.

Rev 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

Rev 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Rev 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

There is a river flowing down a street, One tree on either side of the river. The river must flow through the tree of life. This is the tree as in the Garden of Eden.

Gen 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
Gen 3:23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
Gen 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

The tree had twelve fruits, one for each month. It was designed for earth in the garden.

Prov 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

The fruit of righteousness, a continual supply. The leaves were for the healing of the nations. Leaves hang on a tree. Jesus hung on a tree to bring healing to the nations. There would be no need for healing if their had been no sin. Adam was created perfect and would have lived forever, had he not sinned.

Is it real water or spiritual? Perhaps both, we shall see it someday.

John 3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
James 1:7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

We see with spiritual eyes the things of God.
