Mark - The devils servants

The devils servants

Mark 14:53 And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.

Apparently all were in agreement, that he be punished. Among them were silent believers, Nicodemus from John three, must have been there. Will we join the majority, even within our church if the leadership is set on going against God's best? Sometimes we will speak up for truth and justice, and it may make us unpopular or even feared. Still, Jesus came for this purpose, as he said to Peter:

John 18:11 Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

Mark 14:54 And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.

Peter, in the power of his flesh, followed at a distance. Just as those of the Jewish leadership followed close to the desires of their chief priests, none had yet the Spirit of God for power and discernment to do the will of God.

Mark 14:55 And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.

Here is the difference between those of God and his enemies. Those who oppose Jesus oppose God out of a wicked heart, seeking to prove themselves as right, opposing the truth. They did then and they do today. They said they followed God, as some say they follow Allah, yet they kill the innocent in the name of their god. In truth, they follow their god, satan, though all would deny this as being true. THEY KNOW NOT THE TRUTH. Jesus spoke to those who accused him at an earlier time:

John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
John 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
John 8:45 And because I tell you thetruth, ye believe me not.
John 8:46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
John 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

Mark 14:56 For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.

They were not of truth, but even those who have nothing in common, but their hate for Jesus; these will come in agreement against him. They did it to Jesus and they will do it to His witnesses.

Mat 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Mat 10:23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.
Mat 10:24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
Mat 10:25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?
Mat 10:26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
Mat 10:27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
