Revelation 13 - The Antichrist Beast

The Antichrist Beast

Rev 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

John's vision shifts to earth, standing on the seashore. The sea represents the restless people of the world.

Isa 57:20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
Isa 57:21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

Coming from the restless sea comes trouble. I saw a beast come out of the sea. The word here for beast is therion, representing a wild beast. A beast of prey, like the venomous beast that bit Paul's hand.

Acts 28:4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
Acts 28:5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

Another word used for beast is zoon, from zoe, meaning life. It refers to a living creature. Such as the angels around God's throne.

Rev 4:8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

The evil beast arising from the sea was described as having seven heads and ten horns, like the dragon; he was not the dragon, but he was of his likeness. He was clever and powerful.

Rev 12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

This was the beast, the antichrist that will come as a man of peace to rule the nations as a false Christ.

1 John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

This was the beast in Daniel that would rule over ten nation powers (horns).

Dan 7:7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

The seven heads, were evil thinking and speaking heads.

Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

WE know the work of the devil that this man represents. People are drawn to him by his charismatic personality, smooth lying words and false promises. The people look to him for peace and safety. No way will there ever be peace in satan's people, nor honor, or truth. They are not found in this character. Beware of the antichrist spirit; you shall know him if you discern the spirits.
