Isaiah 28 - Scornful Men

Scornful Men

Isa 28:14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.

The leaders of Israel, the prophets and priests, drunk with wine, affluence and power; they mock the truth. They do not want to hear the real prophet Isaiah, speak to them; precept upon precept, line upon line. What does a witness do with those who say they are the leaders and the spiritual voice of God, but reject the word of God spoken to them? Isaiah gives them a stern warning from God.

Isa 28:15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

They trust in their lies and their arrogance and have made a covenant with the devil. The arrogant, the arguers, the strife makers, the atheists and openly sinful defiant people. They have joined with the throngs of demons, but they will not save them. The enemy nation will overflow them and pass through them, like the death angel in Egypt. Because of their hardened hearts, they will not be protected by God. Give them the word, and then warn them, but do not stay with them, for they mock and disobey God's truth. Their destruction is on the way, unless they repent, for they have been warned.

Mat 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
