Isaiah 28 - Hear the LORD

Hear the LORD

Isa 28:5 In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,

In the midst of the drunkards, there is a residue or a remnant that seeks the LORD. In the midst of the enemy hoard, the people of God trust in the LORD. He is their crown of glory and for a diadem of beauty. We can praise the LORD in difficult times, he is still God and by faith we shall be filled with peace.

Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Rom 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Isa 28:6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.

The LORD will give the spirit of judgment and wisdom to the governors to turn the battle at the gate, the entrance to the city. But will they heed the LORD? For they too are drunk and in sin.

Psa 10:4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
Psa 10:5 His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
Psa 10:6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
Psa 10:7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
Psa 10:8 He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.
Psa 10:9 He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.
Psa 10:10 He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.
Psa 10:11 He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.

Isa 28:7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

The leaders, the spiritual leaders, the preists and the prophets have been influenced by the lifestyle of the nation. They err in their ways because of strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

2 Tim 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2 Tim 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Isa 28:8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

Over indulgent, self centered, drunken with wine and pleasures, even in the spiritual leaders. Lusting for wealth and things and neglecting to see with God's eyes. They are rotten fruit, ripe for judgment. Do we want revival? We also need to repent and pray, for the people are turning from the LORD, turning from truth, judgment and holiness. God have mercy.
