Luke-Name it and claim it?

Luke 19:11  And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom should immediately appear.

They were nearing Jerusalem as Jesus was about to tell them a parable. Notice that they had already visualized what would happen in Jerusalem. They thought that Jesus would use his powers to bring the kingdom of God to Jerusalem. Bring us a magic kingdom, of our own imagination; a Disneyland?  Perhaps this is why they could not hear him earlier.

Luke 9:22  Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.

They were of the name it and claim it people. We want the kingdom now, so God you do what we want. No, God does not have to do what we think. We must learn to hear him and what he says and thinks. Then we can claim his promises as our own, if we trust in him. Never are we to believe and act from our own will. This is something we learn with time. Be still, listen, and be patient. He will do as he said, not as we imagine. It was not yet the time for his kingdom, but it is coming. First he must go to the cross. Look up he is coming again.
