Cain and Abel

Cain and Abel

Gen 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

Their age was unknown when they had a son. Eve thought that this was the seed mentioned earlier. The name Cain, meant "here he is." Eve thought that her son was the Messiah, the savior of the world. Cain was the first baby human.

Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Gen 4:2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

Some think that they may have been twins, but, it appears that she took time to name Cain and said I have begotten a man. If another baby was still to be born, the thoughts would be towards the delivery. Abel was a keeper of sheep and Cain was a farmer of produce. Both occupations were from the beginning, they did not evolve into these duties.

Gen 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

This is an acceptable offering, the firstfruits under the law. It was a thank offering. Yet sin had to be covered, so Abel's offering was better, as a sin offering.

Gen 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

The lamb pointed to the Lamb of God, a type of the atonement for sins. The fat made a sweet smell unto the LORD. Both offered to God, believing that he was God and required an offering. Cain apparently did not think that he needed to be cleansed of sin. He may have been self reliant and self righteous. Did not his mother think he was something special? Mother's cannot forgive sins; God does.

Here, it is one lamb for a man. Later, at the Passover, it will be one lamb for a family. Then, at the Day of Atonement, it was one lamb for the nation. Finally, with Jesus, there was one Lamb who takes away the sin of the whole world. (Guzik)

Gen 4:5But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

He was self willed and angry at God.

Gen 4:6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

Whats the matter with you Cain? Do you lack wisdom?

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Cain did not want wisdom, he wanted his own way. He had spiritual pride and hypocrisy. A man without faith, but of dead works.

Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

God offers Cain the solution; obey and all will be well. God let's us know what is required of us. And if you do not well, if you willfully disobey, sin lies at the door of your heart. Disobedience allows sin to enter. It is best to take control before it enters. The devil desires to control you, it is your choice. WE must make God master and Lord of our life; a life of faith in Him and His promises.

Gen 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

The devil had entered Cain, because of pride and hypocrisy. As the devil would later enter into Judas.

John 13:26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
John 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.

Abel's death was not an accident or from a moment of anger, it was cruel and planned out by Cain. He would remove his rival, but he could not remove God. Many try to remove God, so that they can continue to do what they wish to do, which is to sin.

1 John 3:11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
1 John 3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

Gen 4:9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

We are accountable to our brother and also to the LORD. Cain had killed his brother, then he lied, and tried to cover it up. This is the first example of a "religious" person being jealous of a spiritual person, so jealous and envious that he killed the true worshipper, who was in spirit and in truth.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Later the Jewish leaders from envy, would kill Jesus.

Mark 15:9 But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
Mark 15:10 For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.
Mark 15:11 But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.
Mark 15:12 And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?
Mark 15:13 And they cried out again, Crucify him.
Mark 15:14 Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

Cain had a religious spirit, self willed and not of God. Paul warned Timothy of the false religious ones.

2 Tim 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Gen 4:10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.

Life is in the blood. Abel's blood cried out from the ground. He cried to God for justice, as the martyrs in Revelation.

Rev 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
Rev 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
Rev 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Heb 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

By faith in what God had revealed to them both. Had Cain known the will of God? Yes, and for sure he heard God after his sacrifice was refused.

Gen 4:6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

A heart after God's will, would seek to do right; but he grew angry and rebelled. That is the problem with sin. People say it's alright to sin, to do your own thing. But the results are death to another or to oneself. Society pays for sin, by a breakdown of families and values. Our nation has fallen far in a generation, because of rebellion. The cost endangers our internal security. Combine this with putting God away from public life and we are in great peril.

Ezek 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

It is a separation of those of faith, who believe in God and his word and those who act out their own desires. Faith in God and faith in self works, the walk of faith and the walk of works.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Titus 3:6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
Titus 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Jesus stood in the gap for us, on the cross, connecting those of faith with the Living God, by His Spirit.

Gen 4:11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;

Cain received another curse; again the earth, by which he grew his produce, was cursed to him, because he shed his brother's blood into it.

Gen 4:12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

He would not be successful as a gardener. He would be a hunted criminal, at least in his mind, restless and moving from place to place, never finding rest.

Gen 4:13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.

It was a punishment, but what about his treatment to his righteous brother? One of the thieves on the cross knew his punishment was just, the other like Cain had no change of heart.

Luke 23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
Luke 23:40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
Luke 23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
Luke 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Gen 4:14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.

Again Cain has self pity, but no remorse or repentance for his sin. The world is full of victims, but not so many people of faith and grace. It is about self or it is about Christ Jesus. It is about selfish desires or about the will of the Father in heaven.

Jude 1:11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
Jude 1:12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
Jude 1:13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

Gen 4:15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

Marked as an infidel. Everyone who saw the mark avoided him, for fear of God's judgment upon them. Cain was unclean, unloved, and strong willed. There are other marks spoken of in the Bible.

For the Jews, the seal of the covenant

Rom 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

For Christians, the seal of the Spirit

2 Cor 1:21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
2 Cor 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

The seal of the antichrist beast

Rev 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Rev 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Rev 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Gen 4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
Gen 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

Where did Cain find a wife? Adam and Eve had several sons and daughter, so he married a sister. The law of incest had not yet come into effect. Because this was the beginning, obviously marriage had to be with close family.

Even Abraham married his half sister, but this was before the law.

Gen 20:12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.

Marrying a sister was allowed until the law of Moses.

Lev 18:9 The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.

Those who oppose God and His Bible, often seek to argue about the incest at the beginning. Others point to ape like descendants, trying to prove evolution. God's word is received as it is. Why argue about it? It was the religious spirit of Cain who complained about God's way. We are of God, people of faith or we are the devil's religious spirit people seeking to argue and to deny God's word. Give me the Bible and I choose Jesus.

Isaiah 13 - Babylon to be uninhabited

Babylon to be uninhabited

Isa 13:17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

The Medes and the Persians were single minded; to destroy their enemy, Babylon. Nations who bribe other nations to get them to not be at war, including our own nation, should take heed to this. They were not interested in silver or gold, but their desire was to destroy. The LORD will use ungodly nations to punish those who have forsaken him.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

The best defense is to repent and turn to the LORD for help.

Isa 13:18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.

The LORD has commanded at times, the complete destruction of an evil nation. It is righteous wrath upon an evil people. The LORD had ordered King Saul to destroy the Amalekites in 1Kings.

1 Sam 15:2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
1 Sam 15:3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

Saul disobeyed and the LORD's anointing left him. In the end, Saul was killed by an Amalekite. That thing we refuse to do from the LORD, may be our undoing. The LORD requires obedience.

Isa 13:19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

Babylon was the greatest of nations, full of mans glory, but they had no place for the LORD. They were compared to Sodom and Gomorrah, who were destroyed because of sexual and moral evil.

Isa 13:20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.

The city of Babylon was never rebuilt. It is located in Iraq. Sadaam Hussein, spoke of being a modern day King nebuchadnezzar, with plans to rebuild Babylon, but he was executed for genocide.

Isa 13:21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.

Darkness and confusion surround what was once that city. A Satyr in Greek mythology was half man and half goat. It desired unrestrained revelry, A licentious man; a lecher.

Isa 13:22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

One thought of these mystical beasts: satyrs and dragons, would be to apply this verse to mystical Babylon, the corrupt and wealthy nations, who leave the truth of God for fantasies, who worship mystical creatures instead of the true living God. Their destruction shall come if they remain far from the Redeemer and the God who created them. We know that all nations will worship the beast and that God's people will live forever. Live each day in the light of His truth.

Isaiah 13 - Babylon plundered

Babylon plundered

Isa 13:12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

This is a continuation of the things that will come against Babylon. Men will be precious, perhaps because there will be so few left alive?

Isa 4:1 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

Isa 13:13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

The wrath of the LORD is always against unrighteousness and sin. The LORD is slow to anger, but when it is time to judge the nations, it is a terrible time.

Isa 13:14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.

Babylon and it's might will flee as frightened week animals.

Isa 13:15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.

A terrible time for Babylon as the Persians make war.

Isa 13:16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

This occurred after the death of Alexander the great.

Isaiah 13 - The Day Of The LORD

The Day Of The LORD

Isa 13:9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

From the coming peril; to Babylon of old, we shift to the end time Babylon. The world's way must give way to the LORD and His righteousness. The beast will rule and all the nations shall worship him. The people of God will suffer persecution and be martyred. When Jesus returns he will send his angels to destroy the sinners.

Mat 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Isa 13:10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Isa 13:11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

Rev 2:25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
Rev 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
Rev 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
Rev 2:28 And I will give him the morning star.

Jesus is the Morning star coming from the East.

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he thatsat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Rev 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Rev 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Isaiah 13 - Judgement Sent to Babylon

Judgement Sent to Babylon

Isa 13:2 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

The Medes and the Persians gather to come against Babylon; that they may enter the gates of the nobles or rich; the wealthy of the city. This has come to pass but also could happen in the future, when the wealthy nations who leave God's protection are plundered by foreign nations.

Isa 13:3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.

The LORD sanctifies, sets aside these nations as instruments of judgement, to show God's wrath. They were not holy nations, committed to God, but God would use them. God will use the devil too, to punish, but the devil is not any good. They that rejoice my highness, in that my purpose is accomplished. God is glorified when his will is done.

In the last days his seven angels will pour his wrath upon mystical Babylon.

Rev 15:1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.

Rev 16:1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.

Isa 13:4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.
Isa 13:5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

for Cyrus's army consisted of several kingdoms and nations; for besides the thirty thousand Persians he brought with him. These were brought together by the will of God, the LORD of hosts.

They come from afar to destroy the land, sent by the LORD. In the day of the LORD, the angels shall destroy all wickedness from the world.

Jer 51:28 Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.
Jer 51:29 And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.

Isa 13:6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.
Isa 13:7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:

Belshazzar and his nobles were feasting when destruction came upon them. This was at hand, but actually was more than a hundred years in the future. God's time is not our time.

Dan 5:2 Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.

Dan 5:5 In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
Dan 5:6 Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.

Ezek 21:7 And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD.

Isa 13:8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.

The nation will be taken by complete surprise. They would be as helpless as a woman travailing in birth. Their faces would darken, red, yellow, whatever the appearance of one in deep anguish and fear.

Isa 21:3 Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.
Isa 21:4 My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me.

Isaiah - Cry out and shout

Cry out and shout

Isa 12:3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

We must come to the Living Word who gives the living water. We must first drink of the water of His word, trust him, and by faith receive his salvation.

Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

John 4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
John 4:11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
John 4:12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
John 4:13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Isa 12:4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.

In that day, the day the Lord returns, praise the LORD and glorify him.

Psa 34:3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

Psa 118:28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee.
Psa 118:29 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Psa 103:22 Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.
Psa 104:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
Psa 104:2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:

Isa 12:5 Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
Isa 12:6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

Psa 95:1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Psa 95:2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
Psa 95:3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

Cry out and shout...

Luke 19:37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
Luke 19:38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
Luke 19:39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
Luke 19:40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

Isaiah 12 - No longer angry

No longer angry

Isa 12:1 And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.

Psa 2:12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

In that day, when the Lord Jesus Christ returns to reign, God's anger will be turned from the sinner. Jesus himself took our sins and wrath upon the cross and has risen in triumph, to rule and to reign. We are in him, through faith in his finished work on the cross. No longer does God's anger and wrath come upon us. Jesus is our rest and peace with God.

Isa 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Psa 33:1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
Psa 33:2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.
Psa 33:3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.
Psa 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
Psa 33:5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

Isa 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

Hab 3:18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Phil 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
Phil 4:5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Phil 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Phil 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Rom 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Jehovah Jesus is our salvation. Through faith we receive his grace and are translated into the kingdom of God.

Col 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Col 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

By his stripes we were healed. By his taking our sins upon him, we receive the love of God for his son. We are forever indebted to the Son. Our life resides within him; we cannot live apart from him. He is our life and reward, our salvation and strength, our glory and rejoicing.

Genesis 4 - Cain and Abel

Some think that they may have been twins, but, it appears that she took time to name Cain and said "I have begotten a man". If another baby was still to be born, the thoughts would be towards the delivery. Abel was a keeper of sheep and Cain was a farmer of produce. Both occupations were from the beginning, they did not evolve into these duties. Adam was a tiller of soil.

Gen 4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

He was self willed and angry at God.

Gen 4:6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

What's the matter with you Cain? Do you lack wisdom?

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Cain did not want wisdom, he wanted his own way.

Gen 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

The devil had entered Cain, because of pride and hypocrisy; as the devil would later enter into Judas.

Gen 4:9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

We are accountable to our brother and also to the LORD. Cain had killed his brother, then he lied, and tried to cover it up. This is the first example of a "religious" person being jealous of a spiritual person, so jealous and envious that he killed the true worshipper, in spirit and in truth. Later the leaders would do this to Jesus.

Gen 4:10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.

Life is in the blood. Abel's blood cried out from the ground. He cried to God for justice, as did the martyrs in Revelation.

God does not usually step in to prevent murder, but he is the avenger of the evil and the rewarder of the iust.

Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Genesis 3 - The Fall of Mankind

The Fall of Mankind

Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

The first mistake was to listen to the serpent who went against God's word. Eve responded with God's command. When tempted by the devil we are to quote God's word as Jesus did when he was tempted in the wilderness.

Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

The lies continue; ye shall not surely die. If the devil can get us to doubt God, he can control us. Take a little drugs, it want hurt you. Have another drink, you can handle it. Temptation and false promises are the devil's way.

Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

God is keeping something from you; pro choice, which means death. If they obeyed, then there would be need to know about evil. The devil appealed to her the way that he fell, by saying you will be as God. She was already created in God's image. The knowledge of sin, would separate her from God, just as satan fell from his high position.

Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

She was tempted, believed satan and took the forbidden fruit. She wanted to be as God and convinced her husband as well. She was not created to be God, but in his image, good, to love and to obey Him.

2 Cor 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
1 Tim 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
1 Tim 2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
1 Tim 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
1 Tim 2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

For the first time they were ashamed.

Prov 12:4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

When Jesus came to be with us, he loved the garden.

John 17:26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

John 18:1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.

He was buried in a garden place.

John 19:41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. When he arose from the grave, he was seen in a garden and thought to be the gardener, the job that Adam had been given.

John 20:15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

Gen 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Gen 3:10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

He did not confess that they had sinned, They tried to hide their sin as they hid from God being ashamed of their nakedness. Fear came with sin and shame.

Heb 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is notmanifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Gen 3:11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

What would have happened if Adam had confessed, taken full responsibility for his sin and repented? Perhaps he would have been forgiven? If he were to die, perhaps his death would have saved his wife. But what of Eve, would she confess and repent too?

Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Eph 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

The wife had not submitted, she took of the fruit, disobeying her husband and her Lord. The husband loved his wife more than the Lord, both wanted their own way, more than God's command.

Gen 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

Now Adam blames the woman, not confessing his own responsibility. Apart from God, nothing works, although satan tempted with twisted promises. Only the promises of God are true.

2 Cor 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Gen 3:13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

She did not confess and repent, but blamed the serpent.

Gen 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

The creature which lent itself to Satan may well have been the most beautiful as was the most "subtle" of creatures less than man. Traces of that beauty remain despite the curse. Every movement of a serpent is graceful, and many species are beautifully coloured. (Scofield)
As satan was made most beautiful, and as he lifted himself up to be as God, so also would he be cast down to the ground, to be humbled in the dust of the earth. There will be no repentance or restoration for the serpent.

Isa 65:25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD. There is no repentance for devil and his fallen angels.

Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Enmity between the devil and the woman. God cursed the devil, he was not to be a friend of humans. It shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heal. A prophecy of the destruction of satan by the coming Messiah, Jesus. He, the seed, Jesus, shall crush satans head under is feet. He shall bruise his heal in the process, The cross was satan's last attempt to destroy the seed of woman; Eve and Mary. His hands and ankles were nailed to the cross. His resurrection was the end of the devil's headship, no longer would he have dominion over the righteous people of the Lord.

Rom 16:20 And the God of peace shall bruise (crush) Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

Pain is soon forgotten when a child is born.

John 16:21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
John 16:22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

1 Tim 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
1 Tim 2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

A woman has a great inflence on her children. She is with them more than the man and can guide them into all truth. He shall rule over her. This was the problem, Eve acted on her own, not being in subjection to her husband. The help meet became the temptress to sin. Her desire is to be towards her husband and not forbidden fruit.

Gen 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

Adam is the last to sin, so his judgment comes last. We are to obey God over man or woman.

Acts 4:19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
Acts 4:20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. The beautiful garden that Adam was to care for was cursed. The ground would be cursed. It will be sorrow and travail in tilling the ground to bring forth food.

Gen 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

Thorns and thistles would be created, which would need to be removed. Instead of abundant food, he had to eat common plants of the field. He had it all before the fall, yet he desired the one forbidden fruit. Because of this, he had to work hard for not much food.

Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Man must work by the sweat of his brow; dust to dust.

Ecc 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Gen 3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

Evening begins the day, so Eve was her name, the beginning and mother of all men to come.

Gen 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

The LORD provided skins of animals to cover them. This began the offering of animals and blood for sin; looking forward to the sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb of God. When we would be covered with the righteousness of Christ, through faith.

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

Behold the man is become as one of us; one of the Trinity, to know good and evil. Now he must not eat of the tree of life.

John 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
John 6:56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

The tree of life is for those who are the children of God. Sin separates from God; Jesus restores the lost in sin person, to eternal life.

Gen 3:23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

Adam continued to be a farmer or gardener, although the ground was cursed. It would be with effort that he would dig in the ground. The abundance of food would not be without much work. The first Adam was a gardener.

The last Adam, Jesus, is described as the living vine.

John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. (The vinedresser.)
John 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Gen 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Adam was driven out of the garden, the place where eternal life was found: the tree of life. Cherubims are always where God is. The tree of life was the presence of God in the garden. The flaming swords were the judgement and power of God, keeping evil away.

The angels were in the east of the garden, why only in the east? The east, is where the sun rises, where the source of light and life is. Jesus will return from the east.

Ezek 10:19 And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD'S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

Ezek 43:4 And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east.
Ezek 43:5 So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house.

Mat 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Isaiah 11 - Messiah's Kingdom

Messiah's kingdom

Isa 11:13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.

When Jesus is King in Jerusalem, there will be no more conflict between Israel and Judah. They will be one nation under the rule of Jesus.

Isa 11:14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.

The traditional enemies would be punished. No evil shall stand before the Lord.

Isa 11:15 And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. The tongue, the Gulf of Suez shall be dried up and easily crossed. Their shoes will not even get wet or muddy.

Isa 11:16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

There will be no obstacles to the remnant people of God who come to the land of Israel.
