Revelation - John writes

John writes

Rev 1:4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

John is writing this message that he received, to the seven churches in Asia. We will read later that each church was representing future churches, congregations, as to their works. These were actual churches that were types of our churches today.

Grace and peace, from God the Father, which is, and which was, and which is to come;

Also, John sends grace and peace from the seven Spirits, which are before his throne. What are these seven Spirits before the throne of God? God is Spirit, only Spirit creatures may come into His presence. We pray to God through the Holy Spirit to Jesus who speaks to God our requests.

Rom 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

The seven Spirits before his throne are seven angels? If so. why not say angels? Seven is the number of completion and perfection. The Holy Spirit is part of the Triune God, perfect. The word for Spirits is pneuma, also meaning wind or spirit. The perfect Spirit.

John 3:8 The wind (pneuma) bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (pneuma)

Another mention:

Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

What did Jesus send forth to the earth?

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

Let me say that I do not know all things, so as much as possible I will use God's words. That is always true and profitable. The Holy Spirit is greater than God's created angels. I see three speaking from God's throne room, from the Triune God.

John describes heavenly things that he sees, using his own descriptive words, giving us images from his viewpoint, some are symbolic. This was also how many of the old testament prophets explained things. For example Ezekial:

Ezek 1:16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

If you were the prophet, how would you have described a helicopter? This was not a helicopter.

Rev 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Grace and peace unto you also, from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness who spoke the words of the Father. He was also the first begotten of the dead. The first to arise and to enter heaven.

Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

He is the prince of the kings of the earth. The king of kings.

Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
Acts 5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
Acts 5:31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Acts 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
Acts 5:33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.

1 Tim 6:14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1 Tim 6:15 Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
1 Tim 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

Jesus, that loved us and washed us in His own blood.

1 John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Rev 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Pet 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

2 Tim 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
2 Tim 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

To Jesus, be glory and dominion forever and ever.

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Revelation

The Revelation of Jesus Christ

Revelation, apokalupsis(Greek), an unveiling

Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

The revelation was the word of the Father who knows the end times, the things which must shortly come to pass. The time is even shorter now, as we read His word.

Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

The word of the Father, the Revelation of Jesus the Son and delivered to John by the messenger angel. Jesus is our savior and our mediator. We come to the Father through Jesus and the Father speaks to us through the Son.

Rev 1:2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

The angel bore record, he was the witness to John of the word of God and the Revelation of Jesus Christ. We have the Holy Ghost who reveals to us the things of God.

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

We have the Holy Spirit as our teacher of God's word.

Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Blessed are those who read and hear the truth, those who are the redeemed spirit filled believers of Christ Jesus. For many do not read with ears to hear. Jesus said:

Mat 11:15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Blessed are those who read this prophesy and do what it says. Prophesy is encouragement or knowledge of future events given beforehand by God, through a messenger; a prophet or an angel.

The time is at hand, take heed to this prophecy.

Mark - Signs follow

Signs follow preaching

Mark 16:19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

Paul gives us another account of what Jesus did.

1 Cor 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1 Cor 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
1 Cor 15:5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
1 Cor 15:6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
1 Cor 15:7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
1 Cor 15:8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

Read the accounts in the other gospels for more details. Luke describes his departure in the book of Acts.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Acts 1:10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

After Pentecost, they had the boldness of the Holy Spirit to preach the gospel. The Holy Spirit is truth, peace and love.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Fearlessly they went forth.

Mark 16:20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

First the word of God, with signs following in confirmation. Let us not be a ministry seeking signs alone. We must preach the word. We are not show business to entertain, but servants. The Lord will build His church.

Mark - Ambassadors

Ambassadors to all

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

After upbraiding them for lack of faith, he gives them a commission. Go, as you go into all the world, preach the gospel to every creature. Some are teaching that God has chosen his people, so we do not need to go out and preach. This is a lie, that we need not go out and preach, for Jesus commands that we go out and preach to every soul, not to just those chosen, for who knows who they are unless they preach to them?

Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Rom 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Rom 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Rom 10:18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Mark 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drinkany deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

First, you must be born-again and have the Holy Spirit of God. We do not tempt God by handling snakes and drinking poison, yet if serving him, obeying him through the Spirit of God these things can occur. Casting out devils in Jesus' name, speaking in new tongues, as in Acts chapter two. Paul was bitten by a serpent as he was in God's will and was not harmed.

Acts 28:3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
Acts 28:4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
Acts 28:5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.
Acts 28:6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

In strange lands, we bless what we are given to eat and God keeps us from what may have been harmful or sickening to us. They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. This requires faith and the presence of God. It is not of the flesh or of man's power. The flesh must be humbled before God and we are to be moved by the Holy Spirit.

Mat 17:18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
Mat 17:19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
Mat 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Mat 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Mark - Time for correction

Time for correction

2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Mark 16:12 After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country.
Mark 16:13 And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them.

They had lost their trust and belief in the Lord, because he did not immediately set up his kingdom. They wanted to have important positions beside him as he ruled. This would come in time, but first Jesus must make the way through his shed blood and resurrection. They did not hear him when he spoke of this.

Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Listen, we may be disappointed by others and lose our trust in them, but NEVER lose faith in Jesus!

Mark 16:14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.

He upbraided them: He expressed disappointment in or displeasure with them for conduct that is blameworthy or in need of correction.

Jesus himself appeared before them, and he was not pleased with their whining and unbelief. Love corrects according to truth. This is how we exhort; according to the righteous word of God, in love. He did not sit there and listen to their whining. How many of us whine in unbelief? Why not trust in Jesus, believe in him now. For when he comes he will reward those who are looking for him.

Luke 18:7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
Luke 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

The reason for teaching

Education in Early America

Education in early America was for the purpose of making a literate people who would be able to read their Bibles. Harvard was the first American college founded in 1636 ...
"To advance Learning and perpetuate it to Posterity; dreading to leave an illiterate Ministry to the Churches."

In the 1700's schools in the colonies were strongly influenced by Christianity. It was the intent of the colonists that all children should learn to read and in 1642 Puritan Massachusetts passed a law stating this. They believed that an inability to read was Satan's attempt to keep people from the Scriptures. The middle colonies were characterized by schools sponsored by many different kinds of religious denominations

The McGuffey Reader era provided the most wholesome fare available. Material in the readers is taken from writings which extol, explain, and illustrate such virtues as honesty, charity, thrift, hard work, courage, patriotism, reverence for God, and respect for parents.

McGuffey's teaching technique and the quality of reading material used are superlative, appropriate for any era - desperately needed in our own. (The New American - September 29, 1986, with appreciation.)

So teaching in the United States began with the purpose of learning the Holy Scriptures. Is it any surprise then that when God was taken from the schools that education has failed? Is it any surprise when the laws of God are not taught that we have killings and violence in our schools and our communities? Is it not also true when the light is removed that darkness takes over the land , even in the highest elected offices of our land?

It is time for the light to shine on the true purpose of teaching. Lets examine what the scriptures themselves say about teaching. Beginning with the first mention of teaching in the Holy Bible.

Education In the Bible:Moses to Micah

Moses was given a ministry upon encountering the Lords presence in the burning bush. He was to deliver Gods people from bondage in Egypt. He felt completely inadequate, but God said to him" Exd 4:12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say" God teaches His servants, whosoever He calls he equips for His purposes.

Moses brother Aaron accompanied him and became the High Priest of the people. God spoke to Aaron, forbidding him to drink fermented drinks when in the Tabernacle in ministry. Also he was to teach to discern holy and unholy, clean and unclean. He was to offer sacrifices for the peoples sins and to teach " ...all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken..."Lev 10:11 The priests were also to sacrifice animals for sins and they also with the Levites were to teach the laws to the people.

Moses was the mediator between God and his people. Upon returning from Mt Sinai his face would glow from being in the LORDS presence. He brought down the Ten commandments to his people. These laws are the basis for all the laws of mankind. A copy of the Ten Commandments are hanging in the Supreme court. However liberal humanists have succeeded in removing the laws from the schools, as well as all Bible teaching. None seek after the LORD.

King David was described by God as a man after His own heart. David said that reverence and meekness are required from those who would learn of the LORD. His people will inherit the earth in peace. David describes the LORD as good and upright, merciful, a teacher of sinners.Psa 25:10 All the paths of the LORD [are] mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. How important it is to heed the teaching of scriptures. Judgment is coming for those who ignor Gods holy commands. Listen to the prophecy of Micah toward Isreal of old.

Mic 3:11 The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money..." The LORD warned that though they pretended they were serving Him, that they were in sin, and unless they repented and sought His face their country would be destroyed. Take heed America!

Jesus the Saviour, Son of God

Jesus was the fulfillment of the law and the prophesies.
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.

Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Mat 5:19 Whosoevertherefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus was the perfect final sacrifice for the sins of mankind. If you will receive Jesus your sins will be forgiven, and you will be a new creation. One evidence of the new man is a new heart, and the pledge of our eternal life is the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. He is our Holy teacher.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

He commanded his disciples to go and teach the gospel, the salvation that is in Christ Jesus; forgiveness of sins and eternal life.

Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

This is where we came in, the early teachings of our colleges and schools were obedient to Gods commands to proclaim the word of God. Public education has failed. We do have fine Christian schools, and a trend toward homeschooling that are lights in a nation of darkness. Hopefully our nation will return to the truth and repent from its rebellion. God is in control. His word will not change, we will be held accountable for what we have done with his word.

Mark - The faithful follower

The faithful follower

Mark 16:8 And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.

The angel had frightened them, but the angel also gave them a message:

Mark 16:7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.

Mark 16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

Mat 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
Mat 28:10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

Mark 16:10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept.
Mark 16:11 And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not.

Mary was the first to see the risen Jesus and was sent to tell the men. The first sent with the good news was a woman, Mary. She had earlier been cleansed of devils, but Jesus had made her free. She was perhaps the most loyal and loving follower of Jesus.

Luke 7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

Mark - Christ Jesus is Risen

Christ Jesus is Risen

Mark 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

They did not know that Nicodemus had already wrapped the body in spices for his burial.

Mark 16:2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

It was the beginning of the third day, a Sunday. We celebrate the new life, the new beginning of the church by meeting on Sunday. Sunday was also the collection day for offerings for the persecuted church in Jerusalem. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, he is our Sabbath.

Mark 16:3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?

They came in faith, hoping that someone would help them remove the stone. The stone was sealed by the Romans and a guard put in place to prevent that stone from being moved. Then something happened, something miraculous.

Mat 28:2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
Mat 28:3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
Mat 28:4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

Mark 16:4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.
Mark 16:5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.

Mat 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
Mat 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Mark 16:6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

Luke 24:6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
Luke 24:7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
Luke 24:8 And they remembered his words,

Mark 16:7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.

1 Cor 10:13  There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1 Cor 10:14  Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

1 Cor 8:3  But if any man love God, the same is known of him.

Mat 26:41  Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Take heed, lest ye fall into unbelief

Heb 3:12  Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

Heb 2:1  Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
Heb 2:2  For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward;
Heb 2:3  How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
Heb 2:4  God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

Jer 7:24  But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

Jer 17:9  The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jer 17:10  I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Psa 139:23  Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
Psa 139:24  And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

This is a cycle, the devil and the world seeks to pull you down. Go back to the beginning and follow God. Recommit your life to the Lord and be an overcomer.

1 John 5:4  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:5  Who is he thatovercometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1 John 5:6  This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
1 John 5:7  For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Be renewed in your Spirit.

Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Titus 3:5  Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Mark - The Burial

The Burial

Mark 15:40 There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
Mark 15:41 (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.

These women were some of his most faithful followers.

Mark 15:42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,
Mark 15:43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
Mark 15:44 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.

Joseph was not ashamed to claim the body of Jesus.

Mark 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Pilate was amazed that Jesus had died so soon. The centurion testified that it was so. Had Jesus not given up the ghost, the Chief priests saw to it that all were killed before the sabboth. They must pretend to keep the holy laws, which is a testimony to their utter blindness. They did not want dead bodies hanging on crosses during their Passover time.

Do we pretend to worship God with unconfessed sins in our heart?

Even though they were responsible for killing the King of Kings, the true Passover lamb of God. They were so religious, and so blind.

John 9:39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
John 9:40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
John 9:41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

Mark 15:45 And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
Mark 15:46 And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.

Joseph buried Jesus in his own tomb.

He gave of his best sacrificially. Miraculously, he would receive the tomb back, empty, after three days.

Jesus died on the cross with the wicked robbers and was placed in a rich mans tomb, as prophesied.

Isa 53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

Another secret admirer came to prepare the body of Jesus for burial: the Pharisee, Nicodemus.

John 19:39 And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
John 19:40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
John 19:41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
John 19:42 There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

Mat 27:60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

Mark 15:47 And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.

They wanted to honor Jesus, even in his death serving him. Many serve dead leaders, who offer little hope, but we serve a risen savior, a sure hope of eternal life.

Mark - Jesus gave his all

Jesus gave his all

Mark 15:37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. He gave up His Spirit. His Spirit left His body, because his body he gave up to death. The soul and the spirit continue. Jesus was in charge, he finished what he came to do. To give his earthly body to redeem our fallen spirits and to bring us to God with him.

John 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
John 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

Mark 15:38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

The veil that was a foot thick, that separated the holy of holies altar of God in the temple, from the common people. Jesus had given common people like you and I, access to the holy of holies; that is the throne room of God, by our redeemed new man. His Spirit in us has access to God the Father and the Son.

Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Mark 15:39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

The centurion was convinced, are you convinced? Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus Son of God and Son of Man.

Mark 10:45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Mark - Darkness

Darkness over all the Land

Mark 15:33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

The sixth hour by Hebrew time was 12 noon. At the brightest time of day until 3PM, there was darkness over the whole land. All Israel was in darkness because of this great sin against God's Son, who is the Light of the world.

Jesus had spoken earlier:

John 12:35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
John 12:36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, ...

Mark 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

For the first time, Jesus felt separated from the Father. This was because he took upon himself our sins. Sins separate us from the Father. Jesus took our sins upon himself.

Gal 1:4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
Gal 1:5 To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Mark 15:35 And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
Mark 15:36 And one ran and filled a sponge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.

Elias had come, John the Baptist; And, they killed him too.

Mat 11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
Mat 11:14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.
Mat 11:15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Mark - King of the Jews

King of the Jews

Mark 15:26 And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

He was eternal king after King David and His Father, God. Remember when Israel desired an earthly king? God was not pleased, for he had been their King.

1 Sam 8:6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.
1 Sam 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

Jesus was the true king, after king David: king of the Jews, and Father God, King of all who are in His Covenant. The covenant confirmed by the blood of His son, Jesus.

Mark 15:27 And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.

One of the thieves cried out to Jesus and was saved.

Luke 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Mark 15:28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.

Isa 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Isa 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Who are the great, the strong who will divide his inheritance? We are, we who trust in him and overcome the devil.

Mark 15:29 And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,

They still did not understand. His temple is His body, and he would rise again from the grave on the third day.

Mark 15:30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
Mark 15:31 Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.

He was never lost. Jesus is God, he died to save us from our sins. Those who mock him mock the only way for them to be saved from their sins.

Mark 15:32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.

They had seen his miracles and did not believe. Hell awaited them, as with the story of the rich man in hell and Lazarus in the arms of Abraham, in paradise. They will go to hell for unbelief. The rich man pleaded with Abraham:

Luke 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Luke 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
Luke 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Jesus would rise from the dead and they still would not believe. They would pass on their unbelief from generation to generation. But, their time will come.

Joel 3:16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.
Joel 3:17 So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.

Joel 3:20 But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.
Joel 3:21 For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion.

The blood of Jesus cleanses the sinful blood of Adams children.

Mark - Crucified

Crucified

Mark 15:22 And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.

The profile of the mountain looked like a skull.

Mark 15:23 And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.

This was as a pain reliever. He took our pain to the cross too. He knows what it is like to suffer pain as a human, as well as trials and temptations.

Mark 15:24 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.

John 19:23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

A continuously woven garment is the garment of a priest. Jesus is our great high Priest of God. Exodus 28:31-32 tells us that the High Priest wore a seamless garment.

Mark 15:25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.

John 19:13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
John 19:14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

John's gospel said it was the sixth hour, using the Roman time of 6AM, when Jesus was sent to the cross by the Romans. Mark said it was the third hour, using the Jewish time, three hours after sunrise, or 9AM, when Jesus was crucified.

Jesus was crucified for our sins. The most excruciating torture, following the terrible whippings. He did this for us. The price to remove our sins was a great price. A price that only God was able to do for us. Thank you, my Lord and my God.

Isa 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

The Cross

THE CROSS

Why is the cross important? Because upon it, Jesus shed his blood and died to pay for our sins and to bring us to God.

Jesus spoke:

Mat 26:28  For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

The Holy Spirit spoke through Paul:

Heb 9:22  And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

The gospel

Mark 9:31  For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.

The only way to God

John 14:5  Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus is the way to God, Only through his shed blood may we be cleansed from our sins. Jesus was without sin, the perfect sacrifice to take our place and punishment for sins.

Rom 5:6  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Rom 5:7  For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
Rom 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

He took our curses away

Gal 3:13  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

New Spirit Man

1 Cor 15:20  But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
1 Cor 15:21  For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
1 Cor 15:22  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

2 Cor 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2 Cor 5:18  And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2 Cor 5:19  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
2 Cor 5:20  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
2 Cor 5:21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

That is our message, the message of the cross.

1 Cor 1:17  For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
1 Cor 1:18  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness;
1 Cor 1:19  For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

1 Cor 1:23  But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
1 Cor 1:24  But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
1 Cor 1:25  Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
1 Cor 1:26  For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
1 Cor 1:27  But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
1 Cor 1:28  And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
1 Cor 1:29  That no flesh should glory in his presence.
The Law Condemns

Gal 6:12  As many as desire to make a fair show in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.
Gal 6:13  For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.

Glory in the Cross and what it stands for

Gal 6:14  But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
Gal 6:15  For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

Christ obeyed, even to the Cross

Phil 2:5  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Phil 2:6  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Phil 2:7  But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Phil 2:8  And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Phil 2:9  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Phil 2:10  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Phil 2:11  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Follow Jesus, as Paul Did

Phil 3:17  Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
Phil 3:18  (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
Phil 3:19  Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
Phil 3:20  For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
Phil 3:21  Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Be strong, look to Jesus

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Heb 12:3  For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
Heb 12:4  Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

New Life, in Grace, In Christ Jesus, not the Law

Col 2:12  Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Col 2:13  And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Col 2:14  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15  And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Col 2:16  Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17  Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Confess Jesus and Believe

Rom 10:8  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Mark - Carry the Cross

Carry the Cross

Mark 15:21 And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.

Simon the Cyrene was forced to bear the weight of the cross. Cyrene was in Northern Africa, so Simon may have been a black man. One wonders where Peter and James and John were at this time. They could have carried the cross. This was one of the greatest honors given to a man, to bear the cross for Jesus, dragging it up to the mountain of the skull. We are told to bear our own cross, to die to the flesh and to follow Jesus.

Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mat 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Simon was to bear the cross of Jesus and was rewarded with a family who would serve the Lord. One of Simon's sons, Alexander would be mentioned as part of the church in Antioch.

Acts 13:1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

A Rufus is mentioned by Paul as a beloved friend as well a his beloved mother.

Rom 16:13 Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine.

We cannot bear the Lord's cross, but we are to take up our own cross daily, die to selfish desires and we are to follow Jesus each day. How? By reading the Bible and doing as he says. You must receive him as Lord and savior from your sins. He will reward you with a new heart that desires to serve God and to do good works. Our reward is to be called the adopted of God, eternally with our Lord in heavenly places.

Mark - Hail King of the Jews

Hail King of the Jews

Mark 15:15 And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

Excessive whipping and abuse, with much blood spilled. By His stripes we were healed.

Mark 15:16 And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band.
Mark 15:17 And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,
Mark 15:18 And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!

The whole band of soldiers mocked him, forced a crown of thorns on his head; more blood spilled from his head for the healing of our minds. They mockingly saluted him as the king of the Jews, They spoke the truth as if it were a lie, for the devil opposes the truth. They made fun of him as demons, seeking to play games with the most Holy Lord Jesus. Jesus spoke earlier:

Luke 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

Do we make the things of God as foolishness? If so, we are as the world, without spiritual understanding. Jesus spoke earlier of the foolishness of the heart, without spiritual understanding.

Mark 7:20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
Mark 7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
Mark 7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
Mark 7:23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Mark 15:19 And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.

More of the same blasphemy. If they hated our Lord, they will hate us as well, so be prepared.

Mark 15:20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

He wore his clothing over his torn flesh, to the cross. At the cross even his clothing was removed for a foolish game. They threw dice for his garments. He was naked to bear our shame upon the cross.

Mat 27:35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

Jesus gave his body and earthly possessions to buy us back from the devil. His soul and spirit remained with God the Father. Thank you my Lord and my God, for now we are also become children of the most high God, through the shed blood of our Lord. Our sins are paid for, in full, when we believe in him and are born again, of God's Spirit.

Mark - Who will you obey?

Who will you obey?

Mark 15:9 But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

Pilate attempts to reason with the crowd. You know that Barabbas is a murderer, a terrorist, a menace to society. I have examined Jesus and found no wrong, no sin in him.

Mark 15:10 For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.

He knew, he was a man and knew the ways of men.

1 Cor 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

These men were not in God's spirit, if they were, they would not have betrayed the Lord of glory. They did not know the author of our salvation; the living Word of God.They had delivered him for envy. Today they throw him out of our schools and courts, for political correctness, it is only envy. People desire importance, making themselves as gods, while ignoring the true God, and putting man's words above his commandments.

Mark 15:11 But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.

The chief priests moved them, they obeyed their spiritual leaders. Who do we listen to? Aol news? Party politicians? We had better listen to God, by knowing his word and his voice. Discern the spirits, especially in these last days.

Mark 15:12 And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?

They had cried Hosanna, deliver us now, they saw him as king a week before. Now they deliver him to satan, crying, crucify him, crucify him.

Mark 15:13 And they cried out again, Crucify him.
Mark 15:14 Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

What evil had he done? None, for he was doing the will of God. The sinless and perfect Son of God was to die, spilling his blood for our sins. This was the plan of God, the cup that he gave to Jesus.

Mat 26:39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

He loved us that much. Who will you follow and who will you obey? Obey God and receive and follow His Son.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Rom 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Rom 8:33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Rom 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Mark - Unholy alliance against God

Unholy alliance against God

Mark 15:6 Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.
Mark 15:7 And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.

Barabbas was a dangerous man, a terrorist.

Mark 15:8 And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.

Their desire was to release one prisoner. Jesus had been badly treated, whipped and abused by Herod and then by Pilate. Pilate wanted Herod to deal with Jesus and the Jewish leaders:

Luke 23:6 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.
Luke 23:7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.
Luke 23:8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
Luke 23:9 Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
Luke 23:10 And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.
Luke 23:11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
Luke 23:12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

The kingdom of darkness is united against the kingdom of God; the kingdom of light and truth. Jesus had spoken earlier to the Jewish leaders:

Mat 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
Mat 12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
Mat 12:26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
Mat 12:27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
Mat 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
Mat 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
Mat 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

Remember this when you witness, you will find people who will join with you, having the Spirit of God. Also, you will see people come together, who have only one thing in common: they oppose Jesus and his light of truth. One more you may find, those truly seeking what only Jesus can give; forgiveness and eternal life. There will be a fight for the soul of them who seek. God is greater, we fight in the Spirit by prayer and the word of God. We do not argue with darkness, we give the light of God's word. We battle in the Spirit, by His Spirit, witnessing by His word and our testimony.

Mat 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

We fight for the souls of the lost.

2 Cor 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
2 Cor 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
2 Cor 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

We are obedient to God and His word, the light of truth joins together in unity against the kingdom of darkness, to save the souls of the lost who are seeking God. Often I have received opposition from those who claim to walk in truth, they are not of God's spirit.

Mark - King of truth

King of Truth

Mark 15:1 And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

The Jews were not allowed to execute a prisoner under Roman rule. So they go to the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate.

Mark 15:2 And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it.

The charge the Jews accused Jesus of was blasphemy, claiming to be the son of God and King of the Jews. Blasphemy meant nothing to a Roman governor, but a king? Perhaps he would lead an insurrection, warring against Roman rule? Jesus did not deny being the king of the Jews. He is the one fulfilling the prophecy of a king coming after King David, with an everlasting throne. Jesus spoke in the temple earlier:

Mark 12:35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?
Mark 12:36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Mark 12:37 David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.

Mark 15:3 And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
Mark 15:4 And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.
Mark 15:5 But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.

John's gospel gives us more.

John 18:33 Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
John 18:34 Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?
John 18:35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?
John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

His kingdom was not yet of this world. His kingdom is in the hearts of those who have his Holy Spirit The millennial kingdom would come later. The Millennium

John 18:37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
John 18:38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

Hear the word of God, the truth of God. Jesus is truth.

Peter's denial Mark

Peter's denial

Mark 14:66 And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:

Peter was warming himself by the fire in the courtyard. He had followed Jesus there. Have you ever been in a place that you did not want to be seen or recognized? Perhaps indulging in a desire of the world, warming yourself by the worlds fire or folly? Perhaps a Christian among heathens, you just want to be invisable.

Mark 14:67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.
Mark 14:68 But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.

Peter denies being with Jesus.

Mark 14:69 And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.

These were maids of the high priest, servants of the evil one. The devils servants are always accusing the followers of Jesus, especially those weak in faith.

Mark 14:70 And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.

We notice accents too. Those in the south have a different style of speaking then do those of the New England states.

Mark 14:71 But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.

The devil was really tormenting him. He cursed and swore and I am sure some of us have as well, when we were upset and not yet filled with God's Spirit. Calm down, speak the name of Jesus and praise him, it will pass. Satan cannot stand it when we praise our God, nor will he stay if we speak the word of God, spoken by God's spirit filled person.

Mark 14:72 And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

Mark 14:29 But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.
Mark 14:30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.
Mark 14:31 But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.

We do good when we are in church or surrounded by Christians; the test is when we are not. Peter failed this test and was very upset, yet? He did what Jesus said he would do. If God speaks, it will come to pass.

Mark - The Lamb Speaks

The Lamb speaks

Mark 14:59 But neither so did their witness agree together.
Mark 14:60 And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

Isa 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

Mark 14:61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

A good question, if he had ears to hear. Why ask a question if your mind is already made up? This is how the devil works in his people, asking questions and not hearing the truth given. More and more asking, quoting scriptures out of context and not seeing in the spirit of God. As the lying thief of truth:

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:..

Mark 14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

I AM, this is the name of the most high God. Jesus is the I AM, the son of God. You shall see me in my position of authority and power, next to God the Father, and coming in the glory clouds of heaven. You wanted an answer? Jesus gave him the truth, but he did not want the truth. The chief priest heard only what he had already decided in his heart.

Mark 14:63 Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?

What? Are you crazy? Yes, blinded by satan and doing the work of the devil while holding the high office of God's chief priest. In truth, God's spiritual chief priest is Jesus, our great high priest.

Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

Mark 14:64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

Lies spoken, truth twisted, injustice posing as justice, a mockery of law and truth.

Psa 38:19 But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.
Psa 38:20 They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.
Psa 38:21 Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me.
Psa 38:22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.

Mark 14:65 And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.

Isa 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

All was as written, the Lord took our punishment for sins, being without sin. Praise our Lord Jesus Christ, so good and perfect and yet treated shamefully. We are not so good as he, so we should never complain when treated badly. We are to be as our Lord, who humbly received evil, and overcame the devil. In Jesus we are victorious through his Spirit. Walk in His Spirit and fear not the adversary, we are already seated in heavenly places with our Lord, places forbidden to the devil and his followers. He cannot touch us there. Our soul belongs to God.

Mark - Are you hearing the truth?

Are you hearing truth?

Mark 14:57 And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,
Mark 14:58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

Did he say that?

John 2:17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
John 2:18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

He had turned over the money changers tables in the Temple court of the Gentiles.

John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
John 2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
John 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

They did not hear with spiritual ears. People accuse because of hearing a twisted message. The devil controls their seeing and hearing. Often what is spoken in truth, is received wrong by those who are not yet hearing as God's Spirit hears.

Another passage is like the one above. Jesus speaks with a Spiritual meaning, but the natural mind hears incorrectly. Speaking of another building, the church.

Mat 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Mat 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The Rock the church is built on is Christ the rock. Peter would be a stone that was laid on the foundation that was Jesus. Peter never claimed to be the stone that was the foundation for the church. He would be one stone among many lively stones that make up the church.

1 Pet 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
1 Pet 2:3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
1 Pet 2:4To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
1 Pet 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

1 Cor 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

May we be blessed with Spiritual hearing of the truth as the mind of Christ; words received in truth, not twisted by the devil.
