The first mention of the word sin:
Gen 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
His offering included the shedding of blood.
Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Abel's offering was necessary to point to the coming Lord Jesus, a sacrifice that would remove sins and restore people back to God.
Heb 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
Gen 4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. Gen 4:6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
Wroth: hot anger
Countenance: face, expessions, you can tell by looking when a person is upset.
Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thoushalt rule over him.
God told Cain that he had the rule over sin, it was a choice. We are told the same thing in the New Testament, we can escape temptation to sin.
1 Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

I see sin coming in the door of Cains heart as a demon taking residence and control. Cain needed to obey God and deny himself.
Rom 2:7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
Rom 2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Rom 2:9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
Rom 2:10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
God will give us over to our choices. Disobeying God and willfully turning from his authority opens the door for the devil and his demons. This is seen in the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah. The people were demonic and the laws of the land were not according to righteousness.
Gen 18:20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
Gen 18:21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
This sin had no remedy but to be destroyed.
Gen 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain roseup against Abel his brother, and slew him.
Anger was used by satan to kill. Abel became a type of Christ, a righteous person killed because of anger and jealousy.
Gen 4:9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?
We are to love our brother as ourself. Cain made him a victim of his selfish anger and then lied to God. How many think evil and are angry and then deny it? Face it, to be angry at a brother is as to kill him.
Mat 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. God expects us to love and care for another. Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Mat 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Gen 4:10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
Life is in the blood. Abel's soul cried out to God from the ground. God cares about his own, just as Jesus cared when he was with us. The example is of Mary and Martha who grieved for their dead brother, Lazarus.
John 11:33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned inthe spirit, and was troubled,
John 11:34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
John 11:35 Jesus wept.
Gen 4:11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;
Gen 4:12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
The earth that absorbed the blood of Abel was then cursed, again, as God cursed the earth when Adam, his father, had sinned.
Gen 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
Gen 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Cain himself, also received a curse. He would be a fugitive, a lawless person always running, never finding peace. Think of what his occupation was, a farmer. Farmers are usually in one place, planting the seeds, cultivating and reaping their crops. God cursed the ground, he would not have good crops and would live a life as a wanderer.
Gen 4:13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
He showed no remorse nor repentance. He was only sorry for himself. This is the way of the lawless, self absorbed, not accountable, but blaming others for their misfortunes.
Gen 4:14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
Cainfeared that others would kill him, as he killed his brother. No remorse. only fear.
Gen 4:15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
Cain was marked and allowed to live out his life. This sounds like the people of sin in the last days who were given a mark. It is a mark of demon control, and those with the mark shall not enter heaven, they are cursed but allowed to live in the flesh for a time. Cain was the father of a cursed demonic people.
Gen 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. Seth became the godly line, perhaps described later as the sons of God. Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. Sons of God could be the angels, but godly angels do not mate. They are spirits, not people.
I see two kinds of sinners, those cursed, self willed, caring only for their own desires and not remorseful over their sin. This is a cursed non responsive people, as Paul said, vessels fit for destruction.
Rom 9:22 What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
Rom 9:23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
Rom 9:24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
We are not to judge anyone to condemn them. We are not to curse anyone. God knows who are his and we are to witness to all people the saving grave of the Lord Jesus Christ.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Ezek 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Let's go to the New Testament word for sin. The first verse again that mentions sin in Matthew.
Mat 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

I see two conditions of sin here. Sin that can be forgiven and sin that cannot be forgiven. Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost cannot be forgiven. This is not a casual mistake, or missing the mark. It is a willful disobedience and utter lack of concern for the sin one has. It is attributing the works of God to be of satan. This again is the self absorbed sinner, proud, caring only for his own desires, with no regard for God. He may be a blamer and an accuser, showing the fruit of the demon within. Those who cover their sins are the first to blame someone else. They try to uncover your sins instead of their own.. Jesus said this:
Mat 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Mat 7:3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Mat 7:4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
Mat 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
He will not repent and repeatedly ignores the Holy Spirit. He will not respond to God, will not listen to his words or the conviction of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit draws you to Jesus. He ignores this and so is not seeking God's grace. We are not to judge anyone before the time, but through love and God's word witness to all people. God knows who his own are. Sometimes these evil unrepentant people do much harm to others. They abuse and rape their own children telling them they are bad and going to hell. These children carry the weight of sin. They are remorseful. When given the gospel message they are more ready to receive. They want the burden lifted from them. They come with tears of joy receiving a new life.
God says no one has an excuse for sinning willfully. If so, then he does not want any to perish.
2 Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
A man falls into sin.
A saint confesses his sins.
A devil boasts of his sins.
A sinner that is sorry for their sin can more easily find Jesus. Remember these three "x'es" concerning sin.
1. Sin most be exposed to the light. Jesus is the light of truth. His word is light overcoming the darkness.
2. Sin must be expressed. Confession and repentance is required or the sinner is right back into sin.
3. Sin must be expelled. It must be removed by the blood of Jesus.(Rogers)
